There will be some unlucky players come September...if we make it.

Here is the side that I think - right now and assuming everyone is playing at their best - represents our best 22 in 2014 (not beyond).

B. Williams, Brown, Toovey
HB. Seedsman, Frost, Maxwell
C. Lumumba, Beams, J.Thomas
HF. Sidebottom, Cloke, Swan
F. Elliot, Reid, White

Followers: Grundy, Pendlebury, Ball

Inter: Macaffer, Goldsack, Fasolo

Sub: Young

Emerg: Dwyer, Keefe, Witts

Surplus: Blair, Sinclair, Adams, Freeman, Scharenberg

Would love to hear feedback. If you think that say a Jarryd Blair should be in the 18, 21 or as the sub, then nominate the player you think should come out.

You are assuming a lot.

- That Marley will be free to play

- That Reid will still be walking

- That Adams, Freeman and Shazza are so shit they cant make your top 22

- That Frost will be a better option than Keefe

I'll have a crack

My only change is IN: Sinclair
Out: Williams - only because I don't like his chances of being a free man

I'd also start Young on the ground and JT the sub
JT can replace any midfielder in the rotation, as opposed to young, who really only replaces Lumumba or Sidebottom directly or requires the team to be reshuffled for anyone else.

A fit and Healthy Scharenberg will be in there I'm hoping with 7-8 under his belt

Trying to predict a finals side before round 5 is dumb.

It's all too premature.
Scharenburg, Freeman, Reid, Seedsman, Williams & Karnezis are yet to even play in 2014.
Adams, Fasolo & J Thomas have so far only had cameos.
Get back to me around Round 20 and I may venture picking a side then.

Young is by far one of our best players atm. How he isnt in your best 18 is beyond me?

i usually love predicting best 22's, but i agree with Stupied on this one. The best Collingwood team for 2014 is so far away from being known. what i will predict is that come september, the best 22 will be a damned good team and its highly likely that some extremely worthy players wont make it.

For example, i would be shocked if a fit Sharenberg isnt in our best 22 in September. Equally, who knows which of Sinclair, seedsman, Williams and the Faz take the two running spots down back.

Its an exciting time to be a pies fan and these are world class problems!

i agree with this too. He is finally fitting into our team structure and adding value. I hope that doesnt mean his body is about to betray him!

If by some amazing luck we had all of those players available it would be a nice dilemma for our selection committee to have. If things track as we hope they will all those young fellas listed as surplus should be really banging down the door to be in our 22 by seasons end.
