We all know Trav has had a bad start to the season but rather than looking at the negative, let's look at the positives. He comes up against the best defensive KPP in the league this week in Scott Thompson from North Melbourne. That may not seem like a positive, but it is. I've seen a lot of Thompson's games. My mate is a mad Kangas supporter and I usually catch most of their games on FOX when I'm at his place and the I think he has a HUGE weak spot. Here is a quote from Thompson from a recent article (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/north-melbourne-fullback-scott-thompson-wants-the-big-jobs-in-a-big-year-for-the-club/story-fni5f986-1226827475089) on him from the HS when asked who was the most difficult forward opponent:

``I would probably say Nick Riewoldt is the best,’’ Thompson said.

``His workrate and his marking ability is probably one of the best.

``But also (Travis) Cloke, his strength in the one-on-ones is really strong and you really need support from your teammates to help out.’’

I've said for a while now that if you play in front of Thompson, you'll beat him all day. Buddy was smashed on the weekend and the issue he faced was that he was leading up too far. You only need to be literally in front of Thompson and you'll smash him all day. If Cloke plays body on body, he'll get held, jumper pulled and end up with the same result as previous weeks, plus we all know Thompson is one of the biggest floppers/divers,duckers in the game (remember his free kicks against Cloke last year?) when under pressure. I'd love to see Trav march this bloke around the forward 50 and tire him out whilst dragging him along on some long leads.

Another option is to use Trav as a decoy when needed and drag Thompson out of the F50 to allow White and the crumbers a bit of room.
I think this matchup will be a big part of the puzzle if we are to win this week, but not the whole puzzle.

GO PIES!

some very good points there Medieval-

I rate Thompson very highly- he is just a competitive beast who wills himself to compete and defeat guys with a hell of a lot more natural ability than him.

Would love him on our team-

but he is not strong one out- much like rance from tigers (yet not as mongoloid!)- he can runa nd punch- but does not have the strength to compete in one out contests.

Hoping Trav kicks a bag and shuts up all the haters-
despite his ordinary start to teh year- he hasn't stopped competing and creating fro his teammates

Go Trav!
