I must have missed the memo.

Quote:
Collingwood defender Nick Maxwell could spend the rest of his final season on the brink of suspension if the match review panel punishes him for a high bump at the weekend.

Maxy has so far proved me wrong, and im glad for him he has of course, he has a whole new lease on footy life, now hes not captain. He has been great so far, if he can keep it up, I give him the following season for sure. As for his report by MRP, looked pretty soft to me, surely he wont come up ?

What do they mean, that he'll get 99.5 carry over points for that bump? Hpefully not that he'll get 18 weeks! Razz

Typical anti-Collingwood media firstly hilighting it (haven't seen Cotchins snipe played back too many times, though there is clear footage of it) and now already giving it a carry over points!!

The old Maxy is back playing good football so what's all retirement crap about?

they carry on like he chopped his bloody head off with a sword. the little turd got back up again and played on - nothing in it. trial by media. how can he even be given a fair hearing when this is played over and over again from different angles/ speeds with commentary reinforcing the so-called severity of the incident in the public. surely the mvp would be influenced by all this discussion that's going on which would no doubt influence their thinking.

He may still decide to hang up the boots at seasons end, irregardless of his form this season.

He may indeed. Doesn't excuse the media announcing it before he's made the decision though Very Happy.

The pathetic spin in this story is that it is actually predicated upon the author's conclusion that Maxy won't be suspended, even if the MRP takes the dimmest possible view of his actions. A more coherent way of putting the author's view would have been "Maxwell unlikely to face suspension" but who would have read that? Perhaps Hogan should write speeches for politicians.

^^Yes. Note that Dale Morris is in the same situation as Maxy, but did not get a similar write up. He also should have retired last year, seeing as he's a year older than Maxwell Wink.

It doesn't even make any sense: "could spend his entire last season on the brink of suspension". Well, yes he could, if it was his last season and if he didn't get cited again. What sort of hypothetical is that?

Rubbish rumour put out by Carlton in an attempt by them to recruit him and have him join Daisy.

Certainly helps that the coach has gotten wise and played an extra behind the ball instead of in the middle. With Maxy, it's loose man or nothing. So far, he's playing decent footy. Good to see.
