salary cap?! didn't we free up a whole heap of room when we moved on all those premiership players (thomas, didak, jolly, wellingham, johnson, dawes, etc. all replaced with MUCH cheaper versions)? plus, maxwell, plus heath shaw salary contribution drops off soon, plus wouldn't be surprised to see another retirement (ball or swan or both, even if it's the year after, allows a stuctured contract for a new recruit). I suspect we actually have a fair bit of room... that was the entire strategy, we are primed. don't know if frawley is the one we want, but we have the cash, mark my words.

I've seen him a few times this year and he hasn't set the world on fire.

IF it was to be 800k, pass him off.

Though, he could be an asset, seeing Maxwell has gone and if he does play down back then some experience could be helpful for our young guys.

800k though...

My thoughts Brenny are that he has just lost interest with playing for Melbourne and would be a massive boost for us.It's time for Collingwood to do what the Hawks and Bombers and others do and just get them there and reap the rewards.

And you shouldn't lose the fact that he was an All Australian. You don't become that if you are a dud and I think his best years are ahead of him.

We should have loads of room in the cap, our list is short of decent players.

Rather an elite mid or elite forward
Not that there are many of either available

Get Frawley and we might gain an elite forward in Reid immediately.

It's the flow on affect from any possible drafting of him that's as appealing as just the player himself.

Who does he get a game in front of at Collingwood?

Not Reid, who should be playing as a defender when he gets back.

Not Brown, who is a better defender than most give him credit for.

Maybe Keeffe, who is yet to cement himself, but will with time.

Maybe Frost, if he stalls in his development, which is unlikely.

800 grand for a player (al beit a good one) who gives us depth in a position we already have an abundance in? No thanks.

Would much rather we save our money for Dangerfield in 2015...

Perfect summary. If we're chasing a KPD then it should be a kid so we start grooming the next wave. Frawley wouldn't even offset the loss of Maxwell's defensive leadership whereas I think Keeffe can longer term.

I agree, think we'd have lots of cap space. I'd prefer to be planning for our recent draftees to develop and demand significant salary increases rather than locking it in longer term on a KPD we don't necessarily need.

An experienced key defender [with swinging tendencies,.. not that there's anything wrong with that] would be very handy. Frost & Keeffe are doing admirable jobs this year & have gained valuable experience. Would they [and us] benefit from some proper support?? I think so,.. at the right price of course!

Pretty Sure he's played forward most of the season for 13 Goals. Same as Jesse White.

Was a AA CHB 4 years ago.
