The once mighty Collingwood Official Cheer Squad, is as good as dead.

Ruined by the club by merging disparate groups back in 2001, the cheer squad performance slipped so much that many cheer squad members were sacked whilst under club control in 2008. Now the cheer squad performance slipped again, so much so that the club itself is now making a run-through-curtain.
The club managed the cheer squad. It has demonstrated it has made an ongoing series of mistakes, but then it only makes excuses.

The new era of teenage-fans knows no different, so goodbye to our old and proud tradition.

Seat allocation is rotated weekly - good luck to the few flogger wavers when you find yourself in the 8th row.
Cheer squad is NOT required to make or hold the run-through. Cheer squads have been making run-throughs for over 60 years.
Cheer squad clothing is sponsored by a dentist! (Rub in that stereotype)
Cheer squad members cannot sit with the cheer squad when interstate!!! (See the FAQ section http://membership-collingwoodfc-com-au.cloud.hosting-toolkit.net/faqs )

Now, the only thing left is to decide the real death date of the COCS. I suggest 2001. Any other suggestions?

the club dont even know where the cheersquad ends. i know people in cheersquad and the membership says row A-T at mcg. BUT people in row S and T have legends memberships. which will make it intresting at mcg games.

many cs members have legends membership.

for those that blame the club for the cs' supposed demise you might want to shine the spotlight on some of the cs members whose behaviour, imo, have contributed to the club taking these decisions.

Great point JohnWren. I agree, and add that around 2001 the club thought they could run the cheer squad. So they merged supporter groups. You just have to look at old forum posts here on Nicks to see that within a very short time period, it had not worked. The club was trying to manufacture something and it didn't work. The club had stuffed up.
Around 2008 the club sacked a few people. People that the club themselves encouraged in back in 2001. This proves the club's earlier mistake.
Rather than look back in time for a model that worked, they thought getting rid of a few people would miraculously fix the cheer squad. So let's see how that decision panned out.... Here we are in 2014 and the club is doing everything possible to limit the cheer squad involvement. That is, to kill it off.
Some members may have the behaviour problem, but it is the club who manages the cheer squad...and have had 'liaison officers' etc.
So, club management of the cheer squad has Proven not to work.
Now, why would anyone seriously want to join the cheer squad? Excessive costs, terrible shirts advertising a dentist, no run-through, a few bedraggled floggers owned by people who wont always be in the front row, cant even sit with the cheer squad when interstate, and of course fence banners long gone. Seriously, why would anyone want to join? Maybe it's simply to wear a bad shirt and hold up a tacky sign?

nope. as you know where i sit we are not cs members just legends. legends membership is different from cs membership. we have our reserved seats and cheersquad has rotation seats now with no # seat, just rows. none of us have any cs gear.

then for docklands we are either in pocket or up on level 3 depending home or away game
