Can't wait to go tonight. It's Round 1 and optimism is high.
The test cricket has been awesome over the summer but it doesn't quite rank up there with Collingwood.
Like Bucks said a good time to play Freo and their game style will benefit us similar to Swans. Won't expect a fast open game as the Kangaroos game last year. Freo will keep us in the game as true Ross Lyon teams don't score heavily.
Freo has also shown they can be scored heavily in patches if they don't keep up the defensive strategy the entire game, just look at the game we played against them last year and the 3rd quarter. Lets just hope the players are switched on and we don't concede 8 of the first 9 goals again.
I have a feeling due to their game style we might run it out better tonight. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

Thank GOD the footy season is back again.
I missed it whilst traveling as there was limited TV coverage regardless of where we were.
Bring it on.
I actually like the looks of the starting side and if they play like they did in the practise games, then I hate to say it BUT Freo will kill us,BUT if they come out and decide to play then a totally different thing will happen
Cloke needs to kick straight as do the rest of the forward line.
I have picked the guys to win by 32 points..... _________________ PeterWH VK2FPHR Membership No.248693

Few on here worried about the half back line, Im more concerned about our forward line up against the best defensive side in the comp last year.
We have a habit of going to Cloke and knew he needed support so we brought in white, lynch and event played Reid forward.
Now we have none of them. Witts who will do doubt play deep and yet again Trav as a sole target to be double teamed.
Hopefully here is a plan, however Im worried its gonna be same, same in the forward line. _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

Agree on our shaky halfbacks. However, if Langdon plays a blinder I will count the seconds before the members on Nick's change their profile pics to him and someone puts up a thread:
"LANGDON Collingwoods Greatest halfback man" or something along those lines 😀.
But would I be correct in assuming this is the first time since 2011 we have had our full midfield fit and firing in round 1? |

We get the ball out of the middle quick (with our A-class in there). That is half the battle won. West Coast showed in the mid-2000's you just need goals out of the mid to be a great team. |

its round 1 and Footy is back. Cant wait to see a real game again.
Its been a long time since the pies weren't expected to win every game (it took all year last year for that reality to hit me). Now I can watch regular season games with a sense of excitement and hope. Things I only cared about come September over the last 4 years.
This year will be genuinely exciting. Looking forward to seeing the young guys develop and REALLLY looking forward to seeing if we are a united force or a bunch of players. I think we'll be a united force!
Top 4 all the way!

Fyfe to be a late out. (hopefully).
Ballantyne to shit himself while kicking for goal just like he did in the grand final.
Sandilands to trip over his own feet because he can't see them.
And Pavlich to show that his best football is behind him.
Then we all sing the song at about 10.30 tonight. |
