Exactly.

However, I wouldn't mind practising winning every now & then Wink Razz

We played lots of babies again today & it showed. Our top players were not risking injury.

With a young side, especially in a couple of key ares, this season will build as it goes. Something like 2010. We won't be at our best early, certainly not for practise games, but I think there's definite signs that we'll be up there by the end. Not quite a Premiership challenger but 4-8 is where I see us. With so many changes and so many younger players, it isn't easy to assess exactly where we are at though.

looked that way.

armstrong is a poormans jordan russell- at least russell looked like he cared. I will gladly eat humble pie should he trun his form/courage around

mooney can run fast in a straight line and kick giolas from 2m out- that's the only positives i've seen.

Elliot through the middle looks good.

Kennedy will be a gun

Fas a little rusty but showed his class- great disposal- hits targets.

frost, ramsay and keefe tried hard and did ok- a bit of bad luck.

Umps were crap for a change

Go Pies

Are you fair dinkum?

We have no back line and today showed that Grundy will struggle during the full 22 weeks.

I'd be expecting to win maybe 9-10 games.

How much would you like to bet we still smash them in round 4 when the players have a fair dinkum crack?

Yep. We were a goal down with a quarter to go. We struggled late because of who was out there for us, not because we aren't any good.

We have bigger fish to fry than a practice match at Wangarratta.

I had fears we'd struggle to make the 8 this year.

They haven't gone away after today that's for sure.

2012 - 17 wins
2013 - 14 wins
2014 - ???

The trend ain't good.

All the things we used to do so well, have been thrown away. Not to mention one of the best rebounding and one-on-one defenders in the country.

Let's see how we go with Beams, Adams, Blair, Toovey, Maxy, Sinclair and hopefully Williams back in the side.

The only negative to come out of the game for me was confirmation that Young, Armstrong, Mooney, Frost and Yagmoor are not good enough for senior footy.

Kennedy and Elliott look like they'll be good for us this year. Reid and White will go well up forward. I wasn't worried about Grundy's game. He'll learn from today's game and be better for it.

Overall, it was a nothing game.

I'm not looking at the result, it's the areas of concern with our team.

1. Back line

2. Ruck

That's two big concerns for a supposed finals team. I still think our mid field and forward line are very good, but our back line looks very weak and I fear that our ruck will be inconsistent (as expected with a 10 game No. 1 ruckman).

I'm hoping our inexperienced ruck and back line mature before the mid field and forward line age and start to decline.

Disagree with that Joel. We were 1.8 down at 3/4 time. Beaten in the middle and thrashed down back. Only our decent kicking and Richmond's crap kicking had us that close.

I'd be expecting a better showing from the mids the next time around with Beams and Adams to return but Christ knows what we'll do with our defence.

Otherwise, we didn't turn up at the start. Put in fairly well through the middle. Then took a break in the last. Nice to have no injuries this week.

Pretty ugly and disinterested but it is a practice match.

Reid was good and Kennedy showed some good signs. A bit of work to do in the next 20 days.

They are a real worry. All of Frost,Keeffe and Brown where well beaten.

Yes I know there was not Real Effort by the Boys but still I felt that was a big worry how well they where beaten.

Hope they improve in the Season Proper or we could have some Trouble there

I had a lot of hope for this season but doubt we'll make the eight now. Eddie must put a hold on those contract extension talks. It's not as if the other clubs will be queuing up for our coach's services. See how things pan out during the season.

I said it in the game thread, but those who support the idea it was only a practice match do a great dis-service to the thousands of Pies fans in northern Victoria. For them this was probably the only game they'll see live this year, and we served up cold tripe. Not good enough Collingwood. How about thinking of the fans (the people who pay the wages) for a change. We have become a very selfish team with very selfish habits on the field too.
