This sort of works here, this is a copy and paste from a friend of mines facebook who lives in Sydney.

She'd be one of them edumacated intellectuals but I still like her, deliberate americanisms at the end and all.

Sitting down for 10 with a coffee after a stressful and tiring morning. Bogan mum with twins plonks down next to me. Little boy is a veritable angel and gives me a tired smile. Little girl is the spawn of Satan, kicking, yelling, hitting her brother and flinging food everywhere.
Bogan Mum: 'Lucilla Ceely Lucy Brown stop that or you'll be in big trouble' (gives her lollies).
Spawn of Satan: 'I f'ing hate you' (gets more lollies).
The voice in my head: 'I wonder if she knows she has basically given her daughter the same name three times over?'
Next thing I know the little boy is getting a pretty hard smack.
Bogan mum: 'Kevin, why aren't you eating your samich?'
Kevin should have eaten his samich. After all, his mother 'pacifically arksed' him too.
I'm rooting for you Kevin.

Finding out that an ex-girlfriend has cancer. I haven't seen her for years, and we only went out for a short time, but she is an important person in my life and I miss her dreadfully. Frightening to think that it can happen to someone so young. Hopefully the surgery will be successful and she'll be back on her feet soon.

Cancer doesn't care about how old you are.

Keep in mind that depending on where it is and what kind there's more to it than just surgery. Cehmo or Radiation treatment is a likely follow up and there's always a big risk of secondary cancer.

Not trying to be an arsehole here, I knew a woman a few years back (I wrote about it here on Nicks) who had breast cancer, had the surgery, did the Chemo and all the treatment, fought her way back to good health and then got cleaned up by a runaway truck called secondary brain cancer. Didn't see it coming until bam.

I wish your friend all the best, you be there for her.

That's sad news David I hope the outcome is good!

I don't know how old your friend is but I'm guessing she may be around the age I was (25) and so from personal experience all I can say is try and be yourself as you have always been with her - it can be very isolating as sometimes people not knowing what to say just fade away or change the way they see you and interact and then you feel you are the disease not the person.

She's 29 or 30, and it's stage 3 bowel cancer, apparently. I don't really see much of her these daysshe's still up in Canberra and we haven't been close friends for a long timeso there's not much prospect of me being there for her. She is in my thoughts though. Hope they resolve it soon and it doesn't prove to be a recurring thing.

Yes, I did. That was his illness, wasn't it? Strange, he was so young as well. I guess cancer doesn't discriminate according to age. Sad
