Honestly, it's still impossible to go past this classic of the genre:

This is just bad (along with every other Beatles song murdered in the film, which I won't link here lest I drive Nick's baby boomer contingent into despair):

Also, pretty much any song on any television talent show. Particularly if the original actually had some merit. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Far Corporation - Stairway To Heaven was what immediately sprung to mind. But give me a while. I will think of others......

Here's a very special one for you, MM: a Kylie "singing Locomotion down through the years" 25th anniversary (!) retrospective compilation. Gotta love it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bbx5mxj2uhE
As for Far Corporation, their effort at Stairway is a real butchering but it doesn't even come close to this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NMzuQFHJVU
David, I very much enjoyed young Hilary changing the lyrics to "My Generation" and she and Madonna's (thanks Wokko) covers are each quite insipid in their own way.
The next one doesn't qualify (it isn't - yet - a bona fide release) but I couldn't resist sharing it with you all. How do people feel about "Heroin" being covered on the ukulele: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJTWaufcjfc
Finally (for now), even though the lads here have serious talent, here's Neil Young's and David's favourite song played by another hot pair (seriously) on duelling ukuleles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z32C6ufM6lU |

Mariah Carey has made a career out butchering/covering songs.
Without You and Open Arms are two that spring to mind. |

Damn she can sing though. Haven't heard those covers, but Mariah is talented. (And hot back in the day). |

I too thought she was a tidy unit back in the day, was not interested in her songs.
If I can direct you Mr Wokko to the bored board, there is thread " moose knuckle or camel toe" that Mimi stars in! |

Any of the present day versions of good ol 80 rock songs, with that weird little monotonous beat, or slowed down so you can't sing along with it. And yes Madonnas American pie is bloody awful.
Mariah has a great voice, but she's no Whitney. I've always admired her though, she has had endless shot chucked at her about her voice, her songs, her weight, and she just keeps coming out smiling. She has got some great songs.
Whitneys cover of I will always love you, a Dolly Parton song, is a big favourite, even Dolly loves it. Bt then it's made her an extra fortune. Love Dolly, going to go and see her next year when she tours. _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

Thanks Pies4Shaw - um, that was, um, special !!
I forgot about Rolf, but IIRC Plant liked it ?
As for Without You, despite Harry Nilsson's stunning rendition I still love the original.
Badfinger, most under-rated band of all time ???
