I'm sad to see Heater depart, as he always gave his all for the black and white, and will always be a Collingwood Premiership player. The smother of the millennium will one day be celebrated in a sculpture somewhere I reckon.

Having said that, I am absolutely rapt to get Taylor Adams. As others have noted, he's the replacement for Luke Ball, only he's faster and, if anything, even harder at it. Once Williams moves into the midfield we will have the hardest and toughest midfielders in the AFL. With Grundy (black belt in martial arts) and Witts (pure monster) we are building a fearsome team. Bucks knows what he's doing.

I'm with you on all this except that bit. I've watched Ball even when he was at St blunda with Hodge and Brown they are in the last 10 years unequalled, consistently the hardest players in the game. Still that doesn't mean Taylor wont get there!

Good to get away with the straight swap, it is a strange one the paying part of his contract, yes it is minimal but its usually when a high paid player is no longer wanted at his club and the new club wont pay what he is currently contracted on, have to be a first the old club paying part of a contract for a player who has left for more money...

Heath didn't leave for more money, he was pushed out because of his behavior. Don't ever think Heath doesn't love Collingwood. He did everything he possibly could for the club and I've heard him talk about his love for the club on more than one occasion.

Didn't mean it that way, but he is earning more money at GWS whereas normally these deals are when the team is offering less

for all the hype, will Taylor A. actually get into the team?

B: Williams Brown Keefe
HB: Seedsman Reid Young
C: Harry O Swan Beams
HF: Sidebottom White Elliot
F: Fasolo Cloke Witts

I/C from Dwyer, Goldsack, Toovey, Kennedy, Ball, McCaffer, Sinclair. Maxwell, Blair, ADAMS

when you create a team for next year as above, we are still a forminable unit[/b]

No Pendles, Grundy ???? Rolling Eyes

Well he will surely get in place of Fasolo for a start..... Shocked

lol... Missed the lack of a midfield in the team posted.

I would have Adams ahead of Blair and Dwyer.

Ball will be a Great Mentor for Adams

On what basis would you have Adams ahead of

Blair & Dwyer?

Would have to prove himself t his new club, but I've have him ahead of both. Certainly as a midfielder. He's a much better ball winner than either.

I'd have Toovey in defence, Reid up forward in this team and have Adams in before Witts, Fasolo, Dwyer, Blair even Seedsman.

Check out he highlights package on the club website - hard at it, bit of mongrel and can take a grab and finish off with a goal.

Has more flair than Blair but hardness vs Dwyer, Seedsman & Fasolo.

'Pies are on track with this trading. May take a couple of seasons, but we'll be back amongst it with a very good shot at a flag soon. Like the potential in this team already, even before picks 6 and 10.

Life goes on, the footy'll be well worth watching

This is as opposed to being a win-win for only one of the clubs, I take it. Smile

Believe GWS bent us over on this one.

Shaw is. worth a Player and a 3rd or 4th Round pick.

But it got done, so we can't complain.

For those upset that we are paying a small part of Heater's salary at GWS, I reckon this was Collingwood's plan to get Heater to agree to the move. We probably advised GWS to offer him $700,000 per year, on the proviso that we would pay a portion of his salary. Otherwise Heater may have chosen, the Cats, Hawks or even the scum. By enticing him to choose GWS, that was how we got Adams. Smart work by the Pies I reckon.

This. Everyone in the footy world is raving about how we came out with the better deal. No. Even if I put my collingwood ties aside, whoever looks at this trade subjectively can see we should have gotten a sweetener. I was happy to do a straight swap to just get the deal done and over with, but now we're paying a percentage of his contract (albeit a small part). Definitely payed overs for Adams but what can you do aye!
