Geezus, I can see why anyone would want to hang onto the job. $340k pa, massive office suite and bugger all accountability compared to an actual minister.

Where do I sign?

Not much of a salary, is it? Can't these people find paid professional positions?

When you're in the Liberal government and even the Herald Sun is on your case, your position is pretty much untenable.

When you're in the Labor party and Christopher Pyne is defending your travel bills.................

And both the Speaker and his deputy from Dandrews gov go down .

Quote:
The day after Speaker Telmo Languiller agreed to pay back almost $40,000 for his use of a lucrative “second residence” allowance, his deputy Don Nardella admitted he has claimed about $100,000 under the same scheme.

Bye bye. Door, Arse, leave the money on the fridge on the way out.

Andrews has been very good again, speaker stands down in pretty quick time.

I need to read about the deputy & his alleged wrong doings to make an informed comment.

Now both have stood down. Interestingly, this is legal. It is legally within the rules. However, it should have not been used & the rules are shonky. The rules need to be changed.

I didn't realize they both stood down from their positions on the same day. Great stuff. Another tick for Dan the man. Both in a short space if time.

Agreed on one point, the rules need to be changed to clearly reflect the intent of the allowance.

i can see why someone from a rural seat would need an accommodation option for when Parliament sits and it's impossible to commute, I'm not sure if having the tax payer underwrite an asset for them is the best way to do it though
