OK, I'll accept your subtle distinction there WPT. Wink

Sorry, I don't keep receipts or do manual claims, I CBF. I use the meal card when I remember or otherwise pay cash.

If you like, I can get some for you though, I happen to know where there's thousands of them. Razz Wink

Abbott refusing to act on expense rorts is sensational. The Fiscal Responsible Party is clearly out for anything they can get.

Looks like Abbotts party of rorts & effectively stealing from the tax payer has genetic roots:

http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/howard-cabinet-ministers-who-prefer-vip-air-20131026-2w8h3.html

They were doing it in Howards day: Liberal & national party snouts in troughs is hereditary.

So Barnaby sat in the stands with his back to the rugby discussing policy. Didn't see a single tackle or try just kept serving his constituents. Oink Oink!

Well that's what I would do, if I were somehow forced to attend a game of rugby, Dr Pie. Just sayin'. Wink

The PM is set to introduce fines for wrongful claims. Let's see the details.

It's pretty simple really, average the cost of all MPs expenses for the last 3 years, raise their wages by this amount and remove the entitlement to claim against the public purse.

Do the same for ministers and provide an allowance for any portfolio that by its nature incurs more travel (Foreign Affairs/Trade etc) and let them all pay their own way. No more controversy and you can bet there'd be a lot less unnecessary travel too.

^ Although, to be honest, I rather like the current system. Sure, it costs a few hundred thousand taxpayer dollars, but all things considered, it's a very cheap way to find out which of our elected politicians are (a) dishonest, and (b) particularly stupid. (The smart bent ones know much safer ways to cheat for much larger amounts. In some ways, I don't mind smart and bent. I mean, at least it's better than dumb and bent like (for example) Randall, Abbott, and Abetz.)

Meanwhile, Geoff Shaw's mega-expensive QC fails to get him off with a slap on the wrist and he has to stand trial for theft of public money just like any ordinary person who steals stuff.
