I don't know anything about Conlon, so this is in no way a shot at him. But, I find those pre-draft assessments of players to be totally unreliable. A 2005 phantom draft had this to say about Grant Birchall:

Weaknesses:
- Kicking doesn’t always hit the target
- Decision Making

Now he's the guy cutting other sides to ribbons as he streams out of half back, making good decisions with elite kicking.

The same phantom draft didn't have Daisy or Pendles going in the top 10.

Agreed, the thing with him is because he hasn't played this season it's totally speculative, there's minimal exposed form. He could go anywhere from 20 to miss.

I'd be very inclined to take the punt around the pick 30 mark, our tall forward stocks are slim.

We do need a mobile tall so he does seem the right type. Lots of upside, too by the sounds of things. But chicken wing is right, these assessments certainly need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Apparently 3 clubs have expressed interest, Collingwood being one of them Very Happy

Would seriously love this kid in Black and White and No, I've had it confirmed, no relation to Mick Conlon.

But read this.

^ looks a likely type, if he could live up to 50 % of the potential that's written in that article he would be worth a go! In Hine I trust, so would be interesting to know how he values young Cameron. I'm sure our scouts would have followed his progress prior to this year.

Given that we have just delisted Gault and traded away Paine Conlon would have to be in the mix for selection 65 should he happen to slip that far.

You would think either Conlon or Harvey if they are available. Suspect we will rookie Gault, he is back at preseason training.

Also could not get Drafted at all. Hope he Does as sound a intresting Prospect.

Would not mind the Pies to use Pick 67 on him

I wish these journalists would shut the hell up.

I want him at 65 so the less said the more I feel it's a chance.

This article by Emma Quayle in the age today says that our pick 65 is allocated for the Sam Dwyer upgrade??

Anyone know if this is correct?

^Well looking at that we've had 9 players come off our list and have added 4 so we still have 5 spots available.

I suspect we'll only use pick 65 as a "live" selection should there be someone we've earmarked still available.

Well answering my own question Laughing , I think Emma may have got it wrong. The list of draft selections on the afl website show us using picks 76 & 84 for rookie elevations.

Sorry to panic everyone. Laughing Laughing
