I'd love to see us get this kid.

http://boundforglorynews.com/2013-draft-profile-cameron-conlon/

Comes from a Collingwood supporting family and don't worry about the light frame, he has the genes to be a monster. He's also a very level headed hard working kid.

Looks like a very good player Stui. His light frame doesn't worry me too much as we'll bulk him up in the weights room.

I hope Hine has the same idea. We need some big players in the side.

What do you mean? If he can't kick, he'd fit right in at Collingwood.

It's the height that makes him a no-go. 198cm? That's 20 too much...

Agree. Can't have any more ball burners at the club.

Profile said very good set shot kicking and passable field kicking... not the worst assessment.

The thing we really need to work out is do we want a ranga? Could he be our Roughead?

yeah? Cool.

His big bro became a dad last week so it would be a great year if the big Ranga became a Pie as well.

Dunno mate, I'd bet Hine is aware of him, he's been on the radar for a few years, AIS, Basketball background, quality kid, doesn't drink or smoke, hard worker, ticks all the boxes for mine.

Plus he's more of a natural forward than ruck, think Tippet.

Actually, one of the phantom drafts on BF (first one I read) has him going to freo at pick 33. I'd take him before that.

Quote:
#33 Fremantle – Cameron Conlon (VIC – KPF/Ruck)
Height: 197cm, Weight: 90kg, DOB:
Recruited from: Northern Knights
Style: Patrick Ryder (forward version)
Player comparison: Nathan Vardy
Range: 25-50
Profile: Real talent who has shown some immense promise up forward. As a key forward Conlon has the ability to really develop into something at the next level. A super athletic forward who can pinch hit in the ruck as required but he’s a guy you want in the forward half. He’s a major marking threat in the air with his leap and strong hands. He’s also got incredible agility at his size and has rare ability at ground level for his size while also showing some ability on the lead with his pace particularly standing out. He also converts from his set shot opportunities. It’s just hard to gauge as he hasn’t played this year where he will feature in this draft as there is no recent form to measure him against making his eventual draft placing one of the more intriguing in this draft.

Not related to Mick Conlon from Fitzroy is he? That guy was a monster! As a kid I slapped him on the back after they lost to us at VFL Park (Waverly). He turned on the spot and looked at me like he was gonna tear my head off, the rest of him made it clear he could have! When he saw I was just a kid he lightened up, but I think I already required a change of undergarments!

I also love the idea of getting kids who are already Magpie fans, just makes them keener!
Compared to Paddy Ryder and Vardy... I'll be watching for this kid!

No relation as far as I know, and the kid definitely comes from a Pies family even though he seems to have a bit of a chubby for Nick Reiwoldt. Embarassed
