Seriously though - It's the media that's sucked everyone in here by going the "dwarf" line.
The players were lighting each other on fire, the paid entertainment were included in this nonsensical prank, and obviously didn't see the funny side. Fair enough.

I agree it's absolute stupidity from these so called adults, but in context is an absolute beat-up, and the heat on Demetriou is so contrived that it makes WWE look like a fair sporting contest.

And you believe that they were setting each other alight... yeah right - nice attempt to try and get out of a bad situation... and ditto for Dimi... he was laughing when he heard the story - I mean it is StKilda he should have expected the worst!

And I thought we had seen everything in footy this year. Laughing

Ah, you can never underestimate the propensity of St Blunder to come to the party with something as whacky as this. At least it's a fresh variation on the tired dwarf throwing contests. Razz

Nero would have approved. Dwarves as roman candles - yeah, no!

Seriously, what the **** is wrong with AFL players?

A Brisbane Lions player has allegedly assaulted a man in a wheelchair.

There are unconfirmed reports that the player tipped the man out of his wheelchair and called him a "retard".

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou told Neil Mitchell the league is "looking into" the allegations, but "jumping to no conclusions".

How absolutely shit brained dumb do you have to be to do something like this?

If this was a Pies player I'd want him delisted tomorrow.

Is there like a contest to see who can be the dumbest team on the planet? If so, can we opt out.

Reported on in the Age by one of our (semi absent) won.

Quote:
The Courier-Mail reported this morning than solicitors for Robert Partridge have made a formal police complaint after he was tipped out of his wheelchair while waiting for a maxi taxi in Toowong, in the city's inner west.
A high-profile player is alleged to have said: “A wheelchair retard, you beauty,” before he was tipped over. The players then took his taxi, throwing food at the man when he protested, and left him lying on the ground.

Twitter seems to be saying some of these allegations are a bit rich, if you see what I mean

Looks like the Lions are taking this years MM very seriously, looks like the Saints have some competition on their hands.

I'm usually all for players being free to do as they please off-field, but dear god... I hope our season never finishes. Shocked

Of course, some might say that this kind of behaviour is the inevitable result of keeping players strait-jacketed for 11 months of the year. I think there's something to that. It's not healthy and it's hardly surprising that excessive behaviour is the consequence.

What can a player/ club do now to stoop lower (pardon the pun) than setting fire to a dwarf or pushing a man out of his wheelchair.

If I were that deaf, dumb and blind kid playing pinball, I'd be careful...

My first post long time lurker first time poster so go easy.

Looks like the Lions have delivered their judgement, Rich is innocent cough cough.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-09-06/lions-investigating-mad-monday-incident

Quote:
Speaking just prior to the club's best and fairest dinner at the Gabba on Friday night, CEO Malcolm Holmes said the Lions took the allegations seriously.

"We haven't found any evidence that our players acted in an unlawful manner," Holmes said

"You'll find that some of the allegations were withdrawn by the complainant.

"There's been variations between what was reported this morning in the media, and what we've found."

Reports suggested Rich had pushed the man over and then threw food on him, but Holmes said the club's investigation found nothing of the sort.

Holmes said the Lions had spoken to police, who had no intention of talking to anybody at the club, although the Lions would fully co-operate if that changed.

Rich wheeled the man some metres towards a taxi rank, but Holmes said at no stage was Rich's intent to distress or harm.
