A good effort and a lot to take away from the game.
Umpires disgracefully biases.

When I saw Tommy Waterhouse offering 4's for a Collingwood win I was filled with doubt; the money men know their stuff usually.
And so it proved; but I saw enough to be filled with a certain level of optimism.
Can see how the Hawks choke in September. The maggots don't give those tiggy touchwood free that the Hawks thrive on in finals.
I feel like 2008/09; probably not good enough, but exciting times to come, if we can get in before the Suns and the Giants _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"

Wouldn't the logical choice with our team be to drop lynch and bring in jolly or hudson and let brodie do lynch's roll? 10 times better .. |

And just because no one else is likely to mention it (tend to focus on his 1 or 2 poor games), Brown towelled up Roughead tonight. Only kicked the 1 goal in the dying minutes. _________________ Well done boys! |

The Hawks were pretty good tonight and we weren't disgraced. We gave a few goals away from poor skills or execution and butchered a few ourselves. A bit more improvement in decision and execution under pressure and we will get there. We clearly played the best team in the land tonight. Heads up Pies!!!
Birchall comes back after 8 weeks and has a lazy 26. Why cant we roll the dice with some of our long term injured players like Daisy. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

We allowed Hodge as the spare man back yet again. It seems the brains trust don't learn from past mistakes. Hodge 28 possessions & only 6 of them were contested. Our skipper was also our spare & did nothing but put his team mates under the hammer. I thought Keeffe was good considering the delivery & Goldie gave him one of his 4 goals. Grundy was one of our best & certainly our toughest. Small forwards were ordinary & so were the small backs. Man on man next time pies or else we can expect the same result again. |

Yes, once again Brown showed why he has been Collingwood's best defender all season. Roughead had no impact on the game at all until it was well and truly over. |

Did Mitchell rip us a new one the way he normally does? thought Caff did alright...whether alright is good enough I don't know, but he wasn't disgraced. Just needs to hurt em more going the other way _________________ "The last thing he expected WAS THE FIRST THING HE GOT!!!!!"

Can still get nominated next year unless we make it to the GF and he plays every game. |

Kept at them and would have been happier if those last 2 goals didn't come.
Still matched it with them for a fair bit, just some poor decisions disposals cost us at crucial times.
Grundy was amazing. We have really got something here. Wait till he gets 50 games plus under his belt.
Lynch is a worry. Our free agency picks really do not appear to have worked.
Maybe we are only capable of beating them once and if we get another shot, hopefully it will be in September.

Thought our guys stood up better this time than the last three. Our kids will learn to play hard and keep at it with losses like tonight. I thought we matched them more often and for longer. Our belief grew only to be wasted by turnovers etc We only have to beat Hawthorn once this season for it to count for anything, might be next time. _________________ Get back on top. |
