Picked up a brilliant suit from there. Shame I don't have more time to wear it. |
Took me over an hour and a half to drive home for there tonight $£$%^%%$ traffic!
There is a great fruit and veggie shop around the corner and a wholesale butcher that sells the most incredible home made dim sims, 20 for $8
Didn't see the suit shop any lady's shops?? |
They had male and female stuff. It's a massive store.
There is also a Ted Baker.
Admitingly my suit was somewhat expensive, was approx 850 but it was marked down from 1800 due to it being summer 2011 stock. I can't tell the difference. So the savings are huge.

You need to go in and down the back and under cover to find the store. So just drive in. |

MCC Dress code is straight forward and is intended to ensure that everybody is comfortable in what they are wearing to the same event. It maintains standards that suit people across all ages from the very young to the very old. The MCC is steeped in history and from the days where suit tie and bowler hat were the norm the rules have gradually changed evolved and relaxed without petition, so don't worry your precious little hearts, the rules will keep evolving.
For example they no longer apply for concerts and the like, common sense yeah?
Dress codes exist everywhere, from the casino to clubs and restaurants, to even people asking you to remove your shoes before you come in. Same shit different bucket....get over it.
If you think we are all elitist snobs in the MCC and don't wish to sit with us because you have to wear a polo (which is what some of you are saying) ....good ......piss off. I don't wish to sit next to protencious arty farty types who repeatedly question the moral fabric of society just for arguments sake and because they can. Chances are this is more about your own inferiority complex, as many members are niether well off or well to do such am i, but I'll do you a favour, pm me your addresses and ill mail you a frickin polo. |
lol great post! I'd love to sit down for a scotch with you one day |
They serve some nice single malt in the Hugh trumble room. Are you a member? If not you can be my guest however I must warn you that you need to wear a shirt with a collar. |
Thankyou for the warning good sir! Alas, I am not yet a member (on the waiting list). I may have to wait until next season to take you up on your offer, as my ability to make it to the G this season has been severely limited by the looking after of the infant |

So, have the MCC's standards dropped so far that people are allowed in wearing suits which are not bespoke tailored, or are you just wearing this off-the-rack stuff to your day job (which is, of course, fine, provided you are selling Fords or real estate)? |

They have! You can even get in with synthetic leather shoes instead of snake skin shoes!
I've had a string of weddings, funerals and work events so far this year that have justified the spend. Plus I'm a single bloke with no kids so it doesn't break the bank.
I'm not a big guy, so I can get away with an off the rack. _________________ Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey, we want some Bayley! |

Nonsense! This one is paramount.

Deal. This will probably be the only suit I own, so this will be a momentous day. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Stand with the peasants David like me.
Much better class of people.
Last time I was in the MCG members I bolted after half time.
Every time I yelled out about 40 heads just looked at me in a
disapproving manner.
Even the food in there wasn't any better |

Forget those self-righteous MCC pricks Dave. If you ask me the MCC exists to keep the jerks, assholes, flogs and tossbags away from all of us decent citizens that frequent the Ponnie and other true supporter sections of the MCG. Lock them all in there I say and burn it down! But before you do bring a bag of marshmellows for toasting. _________________ RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.

Rather than just mindlessly chanting "the rules are the rules", would you like to offer an opinion as to why such a dress code exists in 21st century, supposedly classless Australia? |
I didn't read past page 1... I didn't need to.
You're not complaining Yet you start a new thread... about your complaint
I think dress codes should be more forcibly enforced!
I remember back when The Burswood Casino first opened in Perth... around 1987 I think.
No; Jeans, sand shoes. shirts without collars, all that sort of thing. Sweet.
Now, you see dudes in trackies 'n T-shirts... mate, go to your local and have a punt on the machines!
Dress codes are, IMO, good and should be adhered to.

Mate, when it comes to MCC membership, prime ministers have the same status as someone off the street. Also, in this age of "MeToo" women have exactly the same status as men and that's as progressive as you can get. |

Have to agree with the dress code stuff, but the dining options ( Long Room , MCC dining room), multitude of bars and cafes are way, way better than anywhere else in the G. |
