Sad when a bunch of kids in the Magoos beating Essendrug seconds is the highlight of the week.
Well done to the team
Many seem to really want to win and get promoted
Looking forward to some reports by those at VP _________________ Carlscum 120 years being cheating scum |

Not just hoping, i'll be praying. Daniher will be a formidable forward for them. Hopefully Darcy Moore will be for us as well. |

today was the biggest crowd i have seen at vic park in the last few years. last week was pretty good too.
the double headers are a great way to bring in the punters. it helps that we have a competitive team.
vfl footy is a thoroughly enjoyable outing. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Some thoughts on what I saw today:
Broomhead looks like a ready-made footballer. Of course, he needs a lot of game-time to get match fit and he needs to be able to impose himself more before he can be considered for senior selection but he moves (and kicks) like a player.
I expect Martin to come up soon. This week might be as good as any.
Otherwise, apart from Josh Thomas' efforts, the boys were smashed on the ground at the clearances.
I expect to see Lachie Keeffe back in the seniors as soon as he regains match fitness. He moved beautifully for a first game back.
Grundy is, as you would expect, a long way off.
Dids did not impress, although his ball use remains superb. Every week, I see him struggle to get from contest to contest and I am becoming increasingly concerned that his legs can't do the job anymore.
Johnno wasn't bad. Sinclair was OK. Hudson was good - if you want to bring up an ageing ruckman.
Paine was mostly off the boil, today, although he was good at times. Once again, he needs to work on his consistency. Mooney looked good at times and looked quite poor at others (especially some of his kicking, which is still variable).
I will be surprised to see Yagmoor in the seniors again. |

Good review.
I went to the game, got there part way through the first qtr.
Broomhead shows class. Get on this kid.
Martin can't do more than what he's doing, obvious BOG. He knows where to go - & he kicks straight (so uncollingwood like).
Keefe was the highlight for me. First game back, kicks so well both sides of his body. Needs a few more weeks.
Oxley pretty good, coming along "nicely" great mark.
Paine could have had a bagfull but sprayed his chances despite kicking 3 I think. Needs more consistency but he can take a decent grab.
Reggie was not the messiah this week (nor was Daniher) Only on the ground for patches of time, nothing brilliant, often was (as Jack Dyer used to say) where the ball wasn't. Not his fault either. Needs time to show his wares.
Big crowd.
(then rode home through the "valley of death" again (Church & Chapel Streets)!! _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Was the most enjoyable VFL game I have been to for a long, long time. High standard, atmosphere and plenty to get excited about. We had a lot more non-AFL listed players but did the job. Broomy is a ripper!!!!! Oxley plays beyond his years and is a lovely mark and kick. Grundy slowly got into it as the game went on. Great size, agility, but was a bit at sea as you would expect-read nothing into that. Martin is a class above at this level. Didn't see Keefy much as I went down our goals most of the time. Dids didn't dominate, but was all class with his disposal and decision making. Liked Johno's game and Huddo was great- I'm afraid he is in better form than Jolly.
This is a vastly improved VFL team and a pleasure to watch. Last night was awful and boring, but today was exciting to see Keefy and a few guns coming through. _________________ Magpies love pies(Lol) |

i was at the game today.
that oxley is going to be a gun player for us, has good hands and takes a good grab.
martin played fantastic and deserved the medal.
didak and johnson played well. kept passing the ball to each other a few times
keefee was good in backline looks a bit worried still with that knee (but its his 1st game in over a year)
grundy is going to be a good player.
was lucky enough to sit near peter moore and son, he is going to be a tall player when he gets to 18 yo. they left in the middle of the last qtr (we were winning )
highlight of day was when daniher sold some "candy" to gault only to be tackled by sinclair who was chasing daniher.
also the muppet that does the scoreboard learn how to count!!!! gggeeeezzzzz. |
