What would WE get from this deal?????
1.Cheap lift tickets at Hotham.
2.The honor of having a guernsey with those premiership stars on the back that create an imperfect circle, indicating the ongoing, unrelenting endeavor for glory.
3.The right to drive a Landrover with a club sticker on the number plate.

Well thanks for those that took the time to respond intelligently and decently. Some nice humour thrown in too. But to the usual self righteous left green alliance trolls that make any post they disagree with a personal attack I say pox on you!
Is there any commercial reason why the following mergers could not happen? I underline commercial
Geelong - Footscray (WB)
North Melbourne - Melbourne
Footscray - North Melbourne
Carlton - North Melbourne
Collingwood - Melbourne
These are the options being looked at my source tells me.

Geelong - Footscray (WB) - no way the strongest side in the comp would merge.
North Melbourne - Melbourne - could work, though North has always been extremely anti-merge.
Footscray - North Melbourne - same as above
Carlton - North Melbourne - Why? North is on the improve, starting to get more members, and the scum are hardly short of members or financial backers.
Collingwood - Melbourne - wouldn't happen in a million years. Melbourne hate Collingwood, (as does everyone), and Collingwood have the strongest supporter base and highest membership numbers in the league. For this to happen Melbourne would have to be completely absorbed into Collingwood, maybe have some sort of acknowledgement of the dees existence in the VFL side or something, because no Collingwood member would accept it otherwise. And the dees would never accept those sort of terms. |
