Guess my irish side shows then, I drink it neat. |
I just saw that. Its seriously wtf. Absinthe is horrendous drunk neat, if you ask me. But if you like it neat, try it with sugar and water. About a cube of sugar crushed, about 20 mls absinthe, about 20 cold water.
Alternatively, try a Sazerac. Rinse (coat) the glass with absinthe (or better, spray absinthe into the serving glass with an atomiser), and in a separate glass, crush a sugar cube with water, then add about two hearty dashes of peychauds bitters and muddle. Then add 50-60 mls rye (preferably) or bourbon (still ok) and stir with ice, then pour into the serving glass. Twist a lemon peel over the top of the glass to get the oils, and serve straight up (without any ice). If thats too arcane, go to bar 1806 in Exhibition St. They do a perfect Sazerac for about 20 bucks. That is what absinthe was made for. |
That's too arcane. I might try it one day though.
In place of the ritual with the sugar and iced water, I find cold lemonade and an ice cube does the same job and actually tastes better.

^ yeah lemonade is basically sugar and water, so Im sure itd work a treat, too. If you are in the city, go to 1806 in Exhibition Street (between Bourke and Lonsdale) and order a Sazerac. They are the best cocktail bar in Melbourne, and they do a Sazerac perfectly. Its one of the great tastes of life. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Like the dungaree-wearing feminists of the 1980s, this lazy, self-serving, copycat intellectual exhibitionism too shall pass. I suppose, to be scrupulously fair, she was not saying that maths itself reinforces white privilege (ecchhh) .... just the fact that we value it. The only interesting thing about her opinion, however, is that the most gesticulating anti-racists often have incredibly low expectations of others capability based on race, as evidenced here. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

You should've seen it before the 1960's. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |
