It was a good thing that the play clock error didn't decide that game. |

The FTA live broadcast schedule for the first week of the playoffs is as follows (all times are AEDST):
Sunday 5/1:
Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis Colts: 8.30am
New Orleans Saints at Philadelphia Eagles: midday
Monday 6/1:
San Diego Chargers at Cincinnati Bengals: 5.00am
San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers: 8.30am
I'll take this opportunity to wish everyone good luck for their teams in the playoffs. I'm going off for my holidays on Monday morning, so I won't get to see my beloved Packers - but at least you know that my silence when they lose isn't caused by sulking. I'll be missing for about a fortnight, I expect.
My selections are Colts, Eagles, Bengals and 49ers. So, there's 4 teams you should worry about! |

Green Bay is struggling to sell its last 3,000 tickets (out of a little over 80K) for the game against San Francisco. Quite a few media outlets are looking for sinister reasons. Personally, I think the weather forecast for the game day could be a contributing factor: it's got to be hard to go to a game wearing only boots, shorts and a cheesehead when the weather is tipped to be a high of -14 C and a low of -29 C. It sounds slightly better in Fahrenheit, at an expected high of 7 and low of -20!!! Bring it on (in HD, from the couch, of course).... |

Big questions being asked of the Colts' defence this morning. Kansas leading 24:7 in the second. Some brilliant passing by both QBs but Trent Richardson just committed an inexcusable fumble inside his own 20 to set up the 3rd TD for Kansas.
By the way, whatever happens today, Andrew Luck looks to me like he has 2 or 3 Superbowl wins in him - the team around him just needs to step up. |

Best second half, though. Colts up by a point, after trailing by 28 early in the 2nd half. 2 minutes to go, 45:44, Kansas on a fourth down but well out of field goal rnge. |

Colts will win. Smith went for it on fourth and eleven, Bowe made the catch but only got one foot down inbounds. |

Watching that fumble recovery taken into the endzone, one could say they had Luck on their side.
Anyway Chargers have just beaten the hapless Bengals and now travel to Denver next week.
The big one about to start at Lambeau. |

As an NFL fan, and especially a 49ers fan, I'm feeling very fortunate to have seen this weeks Wildcard Playoff round. Three absolutely fantastic games and one surprise win by the Chargers over the Bengals.
Next week is shaping as another brilliant round of football for three of the four games at least.
On the NFC side the Saints travel to the Seahawks having to deal with both the Seahawks team and their rabid fans. Personally I think the Saints, and especially Brees and Jimmy Graham, can compete with a Seahawks unit that isn't playing football anywhere near the level they were in the first half of the year. Will they beat the Seahawks, no, but I believe it's going to be a close game.
Then you have the 49ers travelling to the Panthers to play a rejuvenated Cam Newton and Panthers team. This game is going to be an absolute cracker with, hopefully, the 49ers getting the win but in all truthfulness it could go either way.
** I honestly believe the best teams in the NFL are the Seahawks, 49ers, and the Panthers. Yes Denver are a great team and likely Super Bowl AFC team but they never played these teams during the regular season and I don't believe any of the teams currently playing in the AFC are as good as the three teams previously mentioned. **
On the AFC side you have the Colts travelling to the Patriots and yes Woods of Ypres I believe they can beat the wounded Patriots. Scoring 45 points against a vastly superior Chiefs defence (to the Patriots average defence) will have their confidence sky high that they can score heavily against the patriots.
The other game is the Chargers against the Broncos in Denver. I want to say the Chargers can pull off another upset win but unfortunately for them Peyton Manning ain't no Andy Dalton and won't hand them the game on a platter. I'd expect Denver to win this one on a canter.
Good luck to all with teams still playing, unless of course if your a Panthers fan _________________ A Collingwood supporter since the egg was inseminated. |

Colts showed today that you can't turn up for 20 minutes of a 60 minutes game an expect to win.
Shame we've been denied a Colts / Denver game _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |
