I went for a quarter, posted this on BF:

1. Vic park is lovely. Just a wonderful ground to see some footy, and they can't keep you out cos there's no wall.
2. Witts looks in top shape. rucked against Huddo the whole quarter, loos big, mobile, aggressive, will play NAB.
3. Huddo is competative and is good for another year you would think, handy given Jolly and Grundy where no shows.
4. As mentioned above, it was best forwardv vs best backs, Cloke played genuine FF, Lynch played genuine CHF, vs Brown and Reid. Maxwell, Heater, Johnno, Clarke, Russell, Seedsman, O'Brien and Williams all rotated through the grey tops defence, we certaintly have depth thier, even with Tooves and Keeffe not playing.
5. The midfield was basically Pendles, Beams, Sidebottom (blackshirts) vs Swan, Blair and Didak (grey), other notable blackshirts included Young, Martin and Dwyer.
6. Small forwards for the blackshirts where Mooney, Krakouer, Elliot and Broomhead, all of whom looked sharp. Moooney especially looks like he will at least play a fair bit of NAB, and may even be in the frame for round one given the absence of Fasolo.
7. Richmond was used as the FF for the grey tops and he gave Huddo a chop out late in the qurter, boy the kid can jump, looks a very interesting athletic proposition who may be ready by the time Lynch retires. Gault now has some competition. Gault was another on the injury list i think.
8. Frost played as the blackshirt full back.
9. Ball was a boundry umpire.
10. Lappin was a goal umpire.
11. Eddie arrived at half time.
12. Licca was there looking very sharp.
13. both Hine and Rendell where there.
14. Butters was there on the bench really working the rotations and rests..
15. Elliot a bit fumbly for the blackshirt small forwards but lively.
16. Cloke (black) and O'brien (grey) very fumbly but working into it.

So the sides I saw...

FB: MAXWELL BROWN WILLIAMS
FF: Mooney Cloke Broomehead

HB: O'BRIEN REID SHAW
HF Krakouer Lynch Elliot

C: SEEDSMAN SWAN JOHNSON
C: Martin Sidebottom Young

HF: ??? ??? ???
HB: ??? ??? ???

FF: ??? RICHMOND KENNEDY?
FB: ??? Frost Yagmoor

R: HUDSON BLAIR DIDAK
R: Witts Beams Pendles

INT:
RUSSELL
CLARKE
???

???

INT:
Dwyer
???
???

???

And the injury list I guess....

Ball
Thomas
Goldsack
Keeffe
Fasolo
Toovey
Grundy
Gault

and the guys I didn't spot....

JThomas?
Ramsay?
Sinclair?
Macaffer?
Paine?
Oxley?
Hartley?

We look bigger, badder and better than in pervious years, IMO, and certaintly we look to have much more depth. That said the injury list is already a worry.

feel free to ask questions as it may jog my memory, also if you know who was playing in any of the positions I missed, chime in.

I'm interested in the 'mood' - what with all this shite going on at the moment, what was the vibe like?

low key, good voice. Don't be fooled by the "shite", every now and then asshats with a lot of money like to make noises about "drugs" and "organised crime" to take focus off the real criminals, CEO's and politicians . Essendon are probably pretty disrupted, but once the investigation confirms that the substances where either technically legal a the time or only illegal through oversight, Dank will get fired, the club will pay a fine, the rules will be tightened up and everyone will move on. As for all the organised crime and drugs stuff, its a research report, not a criminal investigation, it is totally meaningless and pure journalism fodder. NOTHING will come of it, except MAYBE a player here or there will end up scapegoated.

The players look fit. They where vocal. The game was played at a reasonable intensity, and the crowd, such as it was, had a relaxed vibe. Rendell was chatting to people, Licca and Hine where having a chin wag, Eddie blew through at half time thrilling the little old ladies he chatted to, it was nice.

As for supplements and peptides and whatever, Butters runs a tight ship and I would be STAGGERED if any question marks appeared over our footy department.

He certaintly seemed in fine voice on the bench anyway, managing the rotations.

Hard to tell--they were instructed by the PR department to trudge around sombrely and avoid looking "up and about". To make matters worse, they were also wearing sunglasses so young people who view them as role models couldn't see their pupils dilating as they ran in and out of the shade.

Unfortunately, Blairy was also seen munching on a packet of Doritos at half time, leading one of the nation's premier investigative sporting journalists to put two and two together and write an explosive article to be published tomorrow revealing that "a powerhouse club" administers weed to its players before matches.

Sorry, couldn't resist Very Happy

^Good stuff, thanks. Great to see Wittsy doing altitude training and Lynchy in black and white. And is that Marley at the foot of the pack?
