Post subject: AFL wants clubs to nominate a song their team can run out toReply with quote

i was reading one of the fb pages dedicated to footy and it stated that the afl has asked all clubs to nominate a song their team will run out to pregame. i really hope it is an untruth.

some people may like this idea but it is abhorrent in my book. if it had to be anything, i would like to see all supporters to get onboard with the collingwood chant before every game. other than that, can they leave the peripheral parts of the game alone?! Twisted Evil

Good Old Collingwood Forever would be a good choice.

you'd have to wonder how much money that would waste, they would have to pay a royalty on any songs they play?

Yep. Why the hell would you want any other song other than the club theme song playing when the team runs out?

I'm with JW, if they start playing something else drown the bastards out.

The facebook page in question:

So, it's not compulsory then?

Just keep on with our theme song. No more of this Americanization cr-p.

i know the nrl bulldogs have created their own theme song which is now played when their team runs out or wins.

i can understand having a song in the absence of any other fanfare but i object to the americanisation of our UNIQUE game.

I don't want or need all these gimmicks before, during or after a game to thoroughly enjoy the experience of attending an AFL game Mr. Demetriou.

Leave all the razzle dazzle to the yanks (or Sydneysiders) and keep our game full of tradition, rivalry and culture.

P.S-Isn't the new boss of docklands an American?

Doesn't bode well.

Who is the clown in at the AFL that actually comes up with these stupid ideas ? Rolling Eyes

We don't need any Rocky theme etc to fire us up.

I do remember Mike Bradys "Go out and win Collingwood" being played at Vic Park in the 80's before the team ran out , but the real Collingwood theme song is what was then played as the team ran out.

I like the idea.

Hells bells playing just prior to the players coming out.

When players come out, the song should be 'Wind beneath my wings'.

Special !

If you noo Suzie like I noo Suzie oh, oh, oh what a Gal!

I left my heart at Victoria Park

In every football club a dream home....

(Wasn't this on VPT some time ago)?

If alex does push this latest piece of idiocy through I'd like to nominate Good ole Collingwood forever as Carlton's warm up tune.

Us? ...We can't be beaten!
