Post subject: ANZAC Day double headers? | |
|
So, with the Bombers finally growing a brain in their head and setting up their own VFL team next year, would anyone care to see a VFL/AFL double header between Essendon and Collingwood on ANZAC Day?
From memory, the first ANZAC Day game in 1995 between us and the Bombers was preceeded by a reserves match at Victoria Park, which Mck McGuane (I think) was selected to play in, only to get called up to the seniors at the last minute.
Thoughts? |

Well the AFL game would start at 2:10, so it'd have to be an early VFL game or under lights, which Vic Park and Windy Hill do not have.
Or unless you're talking about having it at the 'G before the main event.
Which is kind of cool I guess! _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Having it at the 'G would be good.
Ah well, just throwing it out there, I guess. |

Dislike.
It is a day of remembrance and I am aware of quite a few supporters who attend the march to pay their respects prior to attending the match.
On days other than ANZAC day I am all for VFL curtain raisers at the MCG. Doubt the curators would like it though. |

Fair enough, mate.
Like I said, just throwing it out there, off the top of my head. Probably not one of my brighter ideas... |

I think there's also issues with what time you're allowed to have a sporting event. The VFL game wouldn't be allowed to start until after midday (at least) which would push back the starting time for the main game. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Hmmm, sounds like a no goer.
A Sat/Sun game at either Windy Hill or Vic Park sounds likly. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |
