I thought he was alright , what's the point of developing him and then getting rid of him! A good height match up could have been a decent HBF.

No way known.

Clarke had a poor year it's true but he is a bona fide superstar in the making.

Wait until he gets another solid pre-season under his belt this year. Whilst I admit that he needs to work on his strength in one-on-one contests and his overhead marking (both of which are foreign to the Gaelic game) his engine is elite and his skills are top shelf for someone who didn't grow up kicking an oval ball.

Let's revisit Marty Clarke in 12 months time. Methinks that the tone of the "get rid of Clarke" posts will have changed by then.

Not sure about that.... he seems like a bit of a passive softie who struggles with our form of the game. Happy to be proven wrong.

Exactly
I thought he still had plenty of upside but obviously the club did not think so.
Seems silly to pretty much delist a player that would at least provide a 91kg 191cm seasoned depth player in a premiership window unless we replace him with a free agent

What pick? Russell will be delisted. Don't need a pick

Pick 71

We have to find list spaces for our November draft picks. Some have to make way. The club found him a new home. All good as far as I'm concerned. Wouldn't have been part of our best 22 going forward anyway. He will have better opportunities on a young developing list.

Dave, do you understand what delisted free agent means & that no draft pick changes hands? Russell will be a delisted free agent.

Could barely get a game for us, even when we had injuries. Had not shown a lot when given the chance, and is only really solid at VFL level. Not sure why we'd want to keep him or why he'd want to stay. Yes, he's a big body, but has not yet shown he can play (probably shown less than Ryan Cook or Stanley did).

We're going to be tig.ht for spots this year, so there's just no room for Young. If we do sign Russell, he'd be a definite upgrade.

Dave is telling you that Young has been traded to the Bullflogs for pick 71.

Pay attention mate.

^^^^ Dave was right it seems. We are trading a token pick so we don't have to wait until the draft i guess.

I'm a bit surprised. At least we got a pick for him even if we don't use it.

Tom Young was gradually improving. He is tough and knows how to get the ball. Does lack awareness and over rates his ability to break tackles at times. Kicking motion under pressure is not fluent. He gave it his all and h may turn out to be a good player for his new club.

Totally agree. The posters here who put shit on Clarke are very harsh with extremely short memories.... Rolling Eyes This dire pathological need to have Collingwood scapegoats here is bloody ridiculous and laughable.... Exclamation

How about a name change to Nick’s hate all things Collingwood forum?????

^^

free speech an issue with you?

We can like / dislike whoever we want. Clarke is a spud until proven otherwise.

Clarke hasn't improved since 07 IMO and his form if anything has been on a downward spiral ever since.

Already has elite endurance so the benefits of another preseason is questionable.

Only a change to his role will give him any chance of success as he wont make it as a defender.

I thought this was the Tom Young thread?

Tom is a decent enough player, but just lacks the necessary polish to make it at a top club. He should get more opportunities at the Dogs.
