Abbott's smoking gun:

Abbott has claimed over and over to have "no specific knowledge" of the Brough-Pine-Ashby plot to entrap their former ally Slipper.

The metadata on Abbott's Ashby press statement says it was created at 11.08pm on the Friday, long before anything was made public. In other words, Abbott knew about the plot before it was hatched, and already had his statement ready to roll to take advantage of it.

When the timestamp proving Abbott's guilt was discovered, Abbott's staff said that their computer was set wrong and put an incorrect time stamp on the document. If Abbott's office is telling the truth here (which it isn't), then Abbott's press release was written after it was sent!

The latest twist is that it now appears that a Queensland newspaper also received Abbott's statement before it was written. Someone here is telling big porkies, and his initials are T. Abbott.

See this site for a detailed examination of the technical evidence. http://sortius-is-a-geek.com/?p=2626

From Margo Kingston at Independent Australia, further observations on the farce that is the Murdoch press coverage of this issue.

Wow! I knew it was bad, I didn't know it was that bad. I am genuinely shocked. Page 17? That's just incredible.

Yes, remarkable. These News Limited journalists and editors should hang their heads in shame (if they had any!).

^ Oh, I think they do have some. But you can't see them most of the time because they are stuck so far up their arses. Shocked

Persuasive argument.

Given the sh*t the Libs are in because of their political avarice & Mr Ashby, your choice of words here are (how does one say it in English)? suitable/appropriate/apt Wink

Nice to see that the mouthpiece of the Liberal Party is so persuasive and articulate today.

Now now Bruno, you don't have to quote Liberal Party Policy verbatim. Very Happy Very Happy

I don't see any reason why my contribution to political threads at the VPT from here on should extend beyond making animal noises.

The Labor apparatchiks who frequent these parts are just so one eyed and close minded that there really isn't any reason to make any more effort then this.

They have taken intelligence and reason out of political debates here.

It seems the nature of partisan debate in most places, Bruno, and you're hardly exempt from that!

Up until recently, one either virulently hated or begrudgingly accepted the Gillard government. I think some from the latter camp have woken up and acknowledged that a) the current lot aren't that bad (except for Nicola #&$%ing Roxon!), and b) it's about time that some of the baseless criticism and mindless bile were fought back against.
