Tippett has had 3 concussions in the past 5 weeks and doctors in general (not club doctors) have been saying that he is at risk of doing serious damage and his career could potentially be shorten as a result.

Adelaide have officially ruled him out of the Geelong match this Saturday afternoon.

I reckon it is a wise move, I have been reading a lot about the studies they've been doing in the United States with concussions. This is more the doctors worrying about life after football, rather than his life playing.

They came to Melbourne to seek the best medical opinion from a leading neurosurgeon. Now will they take his advice?

This will provide a good litmus test of how serious the players and clubs are when it comes to concussion. Adelaide will view Tippett as crucial to their premiership hopes. In a week or two and Tippet wil be chomping at the bit to get out there on the field. He will feel right to play and the Crows will be sorely tempted. He probably would be right to play with no ill-effects. The issue however, is what might occur were he to receive a fourth concussion.

This does not sound good at all, for him and for us, if we are thinking of recruiting him. You only get one brain, his health c omes a long way before Footy. Goodluck to him, he needs a long rest.
