Package-deal sacking is just fine by me too.

Or an ACL. Either of which are going to hurt much much less, than the rapidly expanding diameter of his anus, which will almost certainly come under some scrutiny in the coming years and months... Mad

An Objective look at the injuries might be an idea. Cloke. Fell awkwardly in a marking contest and I think someone landed on his leg. Beams. Kennedy ,unnecessarily went in low to tackle and kept going, crashing into Beams knee.
Mc Caffer. Hyperextension after landing awkwardly . Sharenberg. Unknown injury but by all accounts, same as the Mc Caffers injury. Brown. Dislocated shoulders after heavy fall. I suspect Pendles was "Rested" last week as he seemed OK yesterday, but diagnosis was "Corked quad",which would suggest a "Collision" type injury. As for Young.Has had 'How many years" of hamstrings?
Ben Reid could?? be a victim of bad training, but I suspect he is "Injury prone".
Lamumba has a corked thigh, Maxwell did his ankle and the "Other" 3 or 4 are Hammy's, which I suspect Most clubs, would be dealing with at this time of the year. Maybe we should stop blaming anyone just because it makes us feel better and see it for what it is. Injuries caused by collisions in a contact sport, with some underprepared bodies, by reason of youth, not able to cope for extended periods of time. That's how I see it anyway.

- Beams missed 16 weeks with a "strained quad" wasn't it??
- Reid had a 2-3 week calf for 8 or 9 weeks, came back in the 2's only to have another 2-3 week calf for 8-9 weeks.
- Freeman hasn't played a game at any level for us due to a hammy. A 25 week hammy??
- Maxwell had a calf before his ankle.
- Sinclair does a hammy; misses 10 or 12 weeks.
- Young came to us injured, BUT did his hammy in his first game back and missed 6 months. And did another one this week.
- How many games has Swanny missed with soft tissue injury?? I can't recall any; but yep, hammy this week.
- Dale Thomas was cleared to play; lasted 5 minutes in a 2's game.
- Luke Ball hobbles off with knee injury, only to be sent back on for rotations' sake. Goodbye to the next 12 months.
(This is off the top of the head, I'm sure there's more.)

There is a theme.
Not all are directly related, and some would have had different individuals making calls in each of these instances - but there is definitely a re-think required in the way injury prevention/injury management is handled at the club.

It can't simply be put down to bad luck - but at the same time, there can't be simply 1 person singled out for blame.
There's got to be some sort of change in approach.

Sack Him!

Most ordinary people need to be accountable in their jobs or else see ya later. why should this guy be no exception?

seems that in society the more you earn the less accountable you need to be!

Not sure about the fitness but when's the last time we had a hamstring injury at the club?

Don't wont to mozz us but our fitness and conditioning staff seem to be doing better than average in stopping our players suffering that common injury.

How times have changed.

People something has gone really wrong over this preseason/season in particular when it comes to our conditioning.

No point denying it just hope like hell whatever the cause was is fixed this off season.

Could Goschs Paddock be the cause of our injury issues?

Didn't it get resurfaced a few years ago.

don't train there any more. but it does beg question whether current training surface is akin to normal afl grounds.

You're missing (and I missed some as well) + Young hammy, Maxwell calf, Elliott hammy, Marsh hammy, Dwyer hammy, Beams again this year (can't remember groin??), Karnezis hammy(?? or was it a quad??) he'd already played half a dozen games or so, so no relation to his previous OP.

There's a theme.

I'm not saying go on a witch-hunt and make sackings en masse.
But I am saying certain methods, theories and approaches need to be looked at, and some will need to be changed. If that happens to include personnel or not, others would know better than me.

(And yeah Ball - did his knee and got sent back out there, we'll never know for sure but it's a fair chance it wasn't a 12 month knee the first time he came off that night - a good example of a questionable approach as a club overall.)

Bill has already survived the club review according to Barrett on the Sunday footy show.

I would assume this review was conducted before the GWS game?

Then how does he explain two further hamstring injuries suffered by Swan and Young on the weekend? There's something seriously this wrong with this area of the club and if we cannot find the root cause of the problem then these injuries will keep persisting. It needs to be fixed and fixed now!!

Anyway this is our full staff list in terms of the football department. By the way what does a player appearance coordinator do? Razz

Football Department - High Performance
Bill Davoren - High Performance Manager
Michael Dugina - Strength and Conditioning Coach
Marty Girvan - Weights Coordinator
Kevin White - Sports Scientist
Blake McLean - Sports Scientist
Rohan Bownds - Head Trainer/Player Appearance Coordinator
Chris Howley - Rehabilitation Coordinator
Dean Filopoulos - VFL Conditioning

Even if he was he'd likely do a hammy and not make the door.

Don't worry guys, the powers that be have already conducted a full review and found that we're in a good place with Davoren and our current medicos, just like Essendope is with James Tird.

Like any other business, sometimes mistakes are made with a new hire and it's better for you and them to fix the problem ASAP. Bill's not going to enjoy life with a blowtorch on him every day and the players are dropping like flies, so show him the door along with the Fitness Coach and review what the Football Department did in offering the job to Bill.

If it was Rocket's recommendation then remove him from the evaluation team to find the replacements. This is grown up business and we don't need to worry about their feelings because we have Premierships to win, and you only have to look at Port to see what a difference fitness makes.
