Carlton Are Looking To Avoid An Unwanted 114-Year Record This Weekend
They'd be keen to avoid this one
http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne/sport/afl/news/2016/7/carlton-are-looking-to-avoid-an-unwanted-114-year-record-this-weekend/

Ahead of this weekend's game against Hawthorn, Carlton are looking to avoid a long-standing record.

As pointed out by AFL spokesman Patrick Keane on Twitter, Hawthorn are looking for their 14th consecutive win over the Blues.

Carlton have not lost 14 consecutive games against a club for 114 years - when they had losing streaks against Essendon and Fitzroy way back in 1902.

— Patrick Keane (@AFL_PKeane) July 28, 2016
If the Blues are to lose to the Hawks this weekend, they'll have the current equal-second longest losing streak against a club.

St Kilda have currently won their last 14 games against Melbourne, while North Melbourne have the current longest streak in the AFL.

They have beaten Melbourne on the last 15 occasions.

The longest in VFL/AFL history is 29 games - Collingwood beat Hawthorn this many times consecutively between 1925 and 1941.

Beautiful to read.

That's one record I'd love to beat, beating Hawthorn 29 times in a row.

Carlton salvage the weekend with a 71 point loss to the Saints, which is their biggest losing margin of the season.

Well I guess that's why they call them the Blues...

Quote:
Come an join Carlton, we want players who:

- Don't play in the forward line.
- Are all talk and no action.
- Can hit a player head high or push them in the back.
- Struggle to get opportunities elsewhere.
- At least play well in the seconds.
- Are ill-disciplined and easily blow steam when the team can't afford losing them.
- Allow the opposition to win the ball via tackling pressure.
- Struggle to get clean possession of the ball in open space.
- Fiddle around with the ball and not push forward.
- Fumble a lot until the opposition are within reach.
- Are no where to be seen on field when needed.
- Kick and hope. Kick long bombs into the 50 to favour extremely inconsistent tall forwards.
- Are easily prone to injury and are unavailable when fans wish to see them play.
- Don't run or create space (Ball-carrier must be the closest to goal when the play cools down).
- Can't kick set shots from 20 metres out in front.
- Dish it off to the team mate under the most pressure.
- Can help with halting the development of talented youngsters, so those youngsters are ready to be traded at their peak.

Great too see Dollar Daisy continue his shithouse form with them, long may he endure as Caaaaarltons highest paid player. Laughing When we lose, its great when they lose a helluva lot worse than us. !

Shortly, it will begin to dawn on them that their most consistent player of the last decade has turned 32 and can't keep doing it week in, week out. Where would they be if you took Simpson's 22 kicks, 17 handballs and 10 marks out of yesterday's thrashing, bearing in mind that they only had five other players who got 10 or more kicks?

What's better than Carlton losing by 40 points?

Carlton trailing by 40, storming back and THEN losing by 4 points, despite having 34 more disposals, more free kicks, more clearances, winning the contested possessions, having 20+ more inside 50s etc etc.

It must be great as a Carlton supporter to know that your team tries it's heart out, brings everything to the contest and dominates all over the ground - but just lacks the finishing class of a Brisbane!

Pathetic, gutless and shit skills from the team as a whole.
They couldn't beat that rabble even when they couldn't get a touch of the football.
Our foot skills are so shit in front of goal we are just throwing opportunities away and even at the death when cool heads were needed and a bit of system, they just kept doing what has lost them games every week and bombed it long.

Anybody who thinks that last quarter counts for anything is delusional. We are in serious trouble and any amount of love and player involvement from the coach can't make a shit game plan look good. It needs a massive overhaul, especially since it is defence based. Any team defence that lets Brisbane score 7 in a quarter is doing something very wrong.

I am not happy with any team aspect of that debacle. A few individual plusses and that's it.
Melbourne could well beat us by 60 points next week.

You can forget about signing players like an O'Meara because why anyone would want to join a list that dishes that garbage up is beyond me.

It is garbage like this, that Carlton have dished up regularly for this decade and a half plus that makes us the joke of the league, not Brisbane.

Don't even talk about a "premiership window" we are going to struggle to ever be in finals contention such is the garbage this club dishes up.
