I've read all the books but I just can't get into the TV series.

Yeah I've started to watch it about three times, I can't even get through the first episode! Too much gratious violence for my liking, on the kids especially, |
Same here. Started to watch since it seemed I was the only one not watching it. After an episode & a half I gave up. Too much gore for no reason, then when they beheaded a horse, also for no reason, I just deleted it all. |

I can't be bothered with Girls this season; it's just become a bit of a soap opera and the characters seem a lot more boring and caricatured than they used to be. You could see Adam and Jessa getting together from a mile away, and obviously Hannah's going to find out and there's going to be an emotional confrontation, blah blah blah. It was always a flawed show, but I feel like it used to be a lot more clever and imaginative.
On the other hand, I just started watching Broad City last night, on Mandy's advice. Really funny series about a couple of young Jewish women in New York doing stupid things and getting into absurd situations – one of the better TV shows I've come across (even if they did apparently have an ultra-lame Hillary walk-on in the most recent series, cringe).

They did write and record an extended version which wasn't well received by the record company.
