Post subject: Was there a player called Frederick White from the 1950's??? | |
|
When my brother in law was in hospital the other week the old bloke in the bed opposite him told him that he played for Collingwood in the fifties...
The old bloke's name was Frederick White, I cannot find any record of him on the www, he is for real or not?
(I wish he told me this when I was visting so I could have shook his hand and found out if he was one of our premiership players from that era etc.)

I'll ask my mother, she knew every player's name in the 50's (60's, 70's, 80's etc)

He doesn't get a mention on the list of SENIOR players. Only similar name I found was Fred West (played in 1950 & 1953).
Fred White either didn't get a senior game...or he's fibbing.

a lot of players played in the reserves under different players names, some rule or another, from the under 19's. I don't think the same happened to the same extent from reserves to seniors though.
Maybe he watched a lot of the pies play..

I asked my mother who was at the 53 Premiership and she can't recall anyone by that name. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on his part, but then again.....he might be like 70 years old and maybe dementia has settled in and maybe he thinks he played for them?
