Wizard Cup squads: Blues v Mapgies

Carlton will be badly undermanned for height when it kicks off its Wizard Home Loan Cup campaign against Collingwood at Telstra Dome on Sunday night.
The Blues will not only be without number one ruckman Matthew Allan but also Mick Martyn (knee), Ian Prendergast (ankle) and Brendan Fevola (finger) due to injury.
Collingwood, in contrast, will be virtually at full strength for the clash with only Ben Johnson and Glenn Freeborn unavailable following interrupted pre-season campaigns.
The Magpies included boom recruit Shane Woewodin for his first official outing for the club since his shock move from Melbourne as well as former Eagles forward Andrew Williams.
Other new players in the Magpies squad include Tristen Walker, a young key position player who also played one Wizard Cup game last year before spending the season with Williamstown in the VFL, and Dane Swan – the son of Williamstown legend Bill.
The Blues, as expected considering their lengthy injury list and after finishing on the bottom last year, will trial a host of youngsters against the Magpies including Tom Hedge, Jon McCormick, Jarrad Waite and Brad Fisher.
Former Port Adelaide big man Barnaby French will also make his debut for the Blues and with Allan a non-starter he will assume the number one ruck position.
The Blues also included their number one player Anthony Koutoufides, who proved he is over the knee injury which cost him most of last season by impressing in an intra-club practice match last week at Optus Oval.( I could impress at a blues practise match)

Talk about stirring up some emotion. Cannot wait.
Lol, love the comment about the praccy match magpie_mendies.
Also they wont just be "badly undermanned for height" that's the least of their problems, talent might be useful.
No Nixon or Shackles named. MM did say that Lokan might play before Nixon even though he was our #1 pick.
I can't beleive they'd play Kouta. Don't really know but is he over the injury. They'd be absolutely stupid to risk him wouldn't they. Oh yeah I forgot.
Go Pies! |

Kouta would be well and truly over his knee injury - his second injury wasn't the ACL, that was fine (can't remember if it was meniscal or MCL, I'm thinking MCL but could be wrong) anyway it'd be well and truly healed by now. The only question is does he have any faith in it, and by all accounts he's been playing pretty well in trainings, so he might be back to good form. Or then again he could just be so much better than everyone else at Carlton that he looks fully fit..

Lica is in post op Rehab and will not be pushed into seniors until ready. He is on a modified training program.
Interesting to see how Barnaby French goes in the ruck for them.
