Watched the game last night,
Cant believe darren millane played this game, broken thumb, broken hand un strapped,1 week after the grand final.Makes me idolise this champion even more.

But at half time, scotty palmer mentions the AFL,was investigating a copyright breach, all collingwood tattoo's were to be looked at to see if any were copied from the original vfl stuff.

What a joke,im in trouble then i have over 40 different collingwood magpies.

Back to the game, michael christian 8 goals, lol rare game this

I thought Chrisso kicked 10. Even funnier is that Essendon apparently took this game seriously, while Collingwood, pretty much to a man, were massively hungover. And we still smashed em. As Darren Millane said to Sheedy "Can't beat us sober, can't beat us pissed".

Was Lee Adamson coach, and Daics captian for this match?

I can remember seeing Daics accept the cup.

I remember this match happening, but don't remember anything from it.....

The one I remember was after the 1988 season vs Hawthorn in Canada.
It was played on a rectangular American/Canadian Football field !!! LOL Laughing
There was a commentator en the PR system while the match was going, so the crowd could follow what was happening. Laughing

They were thinking of bringing in a rule - which was used in this match - that you couldn't handball from a free kick, you could only kick it. !!! LOL Laughing(imagine if that rule had have got up !!!!)
Shane Morwood got pinged for it, & resulted in a ball-up, similar to if someone steps on the line whilst kicking out from a behind.

I think someone smashed Dermie too....
Anyone remember who ????

Me either, I was on a 3 month bender though. Oct, Nov & Dec 1990 were kind of sketchy at best. Very Happy

At the end of this game, a week or so after the grand final, when Daics was handed the cup, he said "this is getting to be a bit of a habit".

It was. Apparently at first he was really unpopular with his teammates because going on that overseas trip meant that Damian Monkhorst got left behind. Then he spent the whole flight over blind drunk and drooling on Allan McCallister's shoulder and then punched Dermie during his debut. From such origins a Collingwood legend was born.
