PeterWH,

Go play with your bloody surfboard ...

You can call me anything you like, pal ... but it wasn't me who opened the can of worms. It was that stinking corporate armpit who started all this crap about Sydney being a "world city".

And as for weather ... the only thing wrong with Melbourne's climate is that the summers are too bloody hot. But you'd love that, wouldn't you, wax-head? Why don't you come down to Mexico and try a bit of surfing.

I'd recommend Portsea.

Go for a swim and see if you can find Harold Holt.

Melbourne is Australia's second driest city after Adelaide. When it comes to rain, Sydney leaves Melbourne for dead. Some get a false impression of Melbourne because they might only tune in during the Spring Carnival which is our most rain-affected time. Both cities have good points but Melbourne often gets the points from neutral observers. Sydney is a great place for a holiday, but outside the harbour the central area is really ordinary, has great beaches, but Melbourne has much better parks and gardens, cultural insitutions, sporting facilities and tradition, restaurants and a less frenetic atmosphere. In Sydney the people are more pretentious. Also Melbourne is easily the fashion capital and has a whole suburb of designer warehouses which you can't get in Sydney.

Pies light up my world. Davis was the next big thing but now it will be Didak or Cole. Go Pies!

I didn't see any posts about tourism in Melbourne & Sydney when I was looking through the messageboard, I'm sure this post had something to do with Collingwood FC playing games in Sydney not about the annual rain fall Melbourne has compared to Sydney I must have entered the wrong post.

Hey Guys,

I'm also an FTO refugee. Sad to see such a fantastic site go.

Anyhow, I think the most important thing here that people are missing in this argument over whether we should play a home game in Sydney is: Will it make a difference in our quest to win a premiership???

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that more AFL games (or any sport for that matter) are won by the home team. Playing a home game in Sydney we lose our Melbourne advantage. And whether you believe it is a big factor or not, evidence would suggest that it would be stupid to consider such a venture.

Extra dollars are the main reason all these clubs are selling their home games to interstate cities. Collingwood is well on the way to finicial security due to the great work of Ed and co., and until this situation changes we should focus on our main business: winning football games.

Anyway, that's my rant for the day. I look forward to posting and reading here in the future.

A home game is a home game is a home game!
CQ, judging by your defence of st kilda and the wherever roos home ground, I guess you would have no objection to playing a home game anus arena against carlscum?
As for who gets the most rainfall, I believe brisbane wins, but we have no problem of holidaying there during the rainy season do we?
For which is the best city Sydney or Melbourne, I was born in one raised in both and at times they both have totally sucked!!

Be nice if El Presidente Ed could post on here what he posted on FTO about the topic of this thread (a push into the Sydney market).

Maybe it would stop the pissing contest about cities !

The article on the official site quoting Ed can now end this thread - NO home games in Sydney.
