So Charlie is HIV positive. Has known for 3 years. Says he has been honest, used protection, etc etc, ex porn star coming out and saying no he hasn't. And she lived with him.

He is fessing up now because he has been blackmailed in excess of 12,000,000 dollars. And he wants to stop the blackmailers, fair enough.

I feel sorry for him that he had to come out and admit something so personal to stop being blackmailed. The people blackmailing him were apparently in his close inner circle. They're the scumbags.

I did hear him say he's had unprotected sex twice since being diagnosed and the women knew and were ok with it. He seems to have turned things around, saying his partying ways have stopped and his philanthropic ways have started.... I say watch this space.

Anyone who seeks to profit off others' misfortune is obviously deeply callous and unethical. As for disclosure of STIs, I think that's a matter for sexual partners (past, present and future) to discuss. We don't need to know.

I certainly agree with the blackmailing thing, it's disgusting.

you have to wonder who they are that know, and how they know. Strange that some people have the knowledge, and yet a woman living with him, didn't.

He's one of those people who's hard to dislike, (not sure all his Exs would agree though! And certainly not the producers of 2 1/2 men). Good on him for smashing the blackmailers, but has he left himself open to worse? Could the lawsuits from upset women cost him more?

And then there is the moral obligation. Even if he used protection, surely every sexual partner he had since diagnosis, and also the ones previous to diagnosis, have a right to know. (At least two partners from the time since diagnosis have already come out and said they didn't know) Early detection helps with treatment and prevention of full blown aids. It's life or death. They have a right to know.

It's also hard to have sympathy for someone who had it all, and seemingly easily. He grew up in the Hollywood set, already groomed for a life most people couldn't even imagine. His bad habits have come back to bite him hard.

However it's hard to ascertain the truth as some of his ex-partners say he never told them about the condition.

It's being reported he supposedly had a sex contract as well, I am not sure how accurate that is as I've not really bothered to follow that part too closely. It's sad for anyone to get HIV regardless of how they get it. It's a shame that Charlie's life has become such a mess that it has, hopefully it can become a little less of a mess in the future.

I haven't really watched the interview I've just gone by all the stuff being posted about, but it's pretty sad to blackmail someone. I guess now that it is out in the open, he can move on from that part. It seems his fights are only just beginning with him going to be sued and all.

Apparently HIV isn't exactly a death sentence anymore, it doesn't have to turn into AIDS and can be managed by daily tablets.

I heard a bloke talking on MMM who's had HIV for years and is perfectly healthy, just takes 2 tablets per day.

Sheen allegedly had such a low blood count of the disease that the probability of transmission was remote.
