I just found this on the CFC web site

Reconstruction for young Magpie

Collingwood youngster Tom Davidson is expected to miss the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during a training drill at Victoria Park on Monday.

In a brief statement, the club said it expected Davidson would undergo reconstructive surgery in the next couple of weeks.

The setback is a devastating blow for the 19 year-old, rated by Magpie recruiting manager Noel Judkins as ‘probably a better mark than Chris Tarrant’.

Davidson, who was picked up by the Pies at number 27 in the 2001 National Draft, is the son of former Geelong and Richmond player, Garry Davidson, who is now the Cats' football manager.

Playing as a mobile, strong-marking forward with the ability to kick long goals, Davidson won the Harrison Medal as the best player in division two of the 2001 AFL National Under 18 Championships representing Tasmania.

He represented the Magpies in two Wizard Cup matches last season.

Thats absolutely terrible Im devastated. This guy rock, and has already been terribly unlucky not to get more senior games. What a tragedy. I was really looking forward to seeing more of him in 2003 cos hes one of my faves already. This is so unfair

Actually I heard a rumour (from a mate in Perth of all places) that Tom's knee might not be as bad as first thought. He will still miss most of the season but could be back doing some light training around August.
