With the sad death from cancer of Jeff Clifton a couple of days ago, and the tragic sudden loss of Len Thompson from a heart attack a few years ago, the ranks of one of my all-time favourite Collingwood sides is thinning. Of course we can't ever forget the magnificent send-off at the Melbourne Town Hall for our coach, the late great Bobby Rose.

So where are they all now?

I know that Barry Price has been Director of Sport at Scotch College for years, Peter McKenna presented the 2010 Premiership Cup, and Tuddy is a legend around the club.

But can any of you enlighten us of the whereabouts of these fine Collingwood champions?

B: 9 Colin Tully 21 Jeff Clifton 10 Peter Eakins
HB: 29 Denis O'Callaghan 3 Ted Potter 33 Lee Adamson
C: 26 Robert Dean 5 Barry Price 22 John Greening
HF: 18 Max Richardson 28 Len Thompson 27 Con Britt
F: 12 Ross Dunne 6 Peter McKenna 2 Wayne Richardson
Foll: 14 Graeme Jenkin 1 Terry Waters (c) 30 Des Tuddenham
Reserve(s): 15 Bob Heard 23 Ricky Watt
Coach: Bob Rose

This was posted on the Jeff Clifton thread and I hope Crimson Mask doesn't mind me quoting it here. It is exactly the kind of information I'm looking for. Thanks mate.

Crimson Mask wrote:

Jeff Clifton was a very successful architect and businessman post-football.

Refer to this excerpt from the St Vincents Institute where Mr Clifton was a Board Member and where I obtained photo from:-

" Mr Clifton is currently the Managing Director of Clifton Property Group, which consists of a development management group, Clifton Hall Consulting and a project management group, CBM Project Management. Both companies serve the Australian property industry and Mr Clifton has been in the property industry for over 35 years. Mr Clifton was formerly Executive Chairman of Farsands and Managing Director of the Clifton Coney Group, which are now part of Coffey International following a sale of the business. Mr Clifton is also a Director of OIML Pty Ltd, the responsible entity of the Timbercorp Primary Infrastructure Fund"

A sad loss both to the Collingwood community and the wider business community.

He left his mark and will be remembered.

RIP Jeff Clifton

Not according to Wikipedia.

But there's no other information either. Anything anyone?

I thought he had cancer.... though my memory is never to be trusted, I may be confusing him with someone else.

In our hearts forever. I suggested to the Club a couple of years back that a way of showing them that we still remember them fondly is to get them to help hold-up the Run-thru on special days like Anzac Day, player Milestone matches, but the idea wasn't taken-up. Here's the tip on a few of our golden boys ...

I gave Colin Tully a kiss on his plump little cheek at a CPP function held earlier this year, far as I know he survived that!

Lee Adamson popped-up in the papers this year/last?, related to the dirty Syd Jackson lie.

Peter McKenna & Tuddy pop-up regularly at functions & matches, as do the Richardson brothers (I chatted happily with Maxy at Jolimont Station after our GF win).

Terry Waters spoke at the Club Legends function earlier this year.

I had a nice chat in a cafe in West Melb with both Daics & Kink before the GF Draw.

Twiggy Dunne moved to Adelaide with his family after losing his job at the Club in the early 90s, but I think he's back in Melb now.

Correct Dave. Peter Eakins died in 1999 at the age of 52 from cancer.

Crikey, that long ago! I thought it was only 4 or 5 years back.

Colin Tully lives in Bendigo and drives a Taxi. It is great getting picked up by him because all we talk about is Collingwood!

Terry Waters still attends most games and loves the staircase at The Kingston Hotel. Great Bloke Terry!
