Not sure about the other rookies, but Jason Roe is currently playing for Nightcliff in the local Darwin (NTFL) league.
Has been amongst the Tigers best the last 5 weeks playing across half-back.
Maybe some of our Darwin based members can report on his progress before he heads south.

yep, Roe is a very good pick up. has had trouble with OP which i guess should cause us some concern but cant imagine they would pick him up if they had any doubts. he certainly hasnt played like he's coming back from OP either - straight back into it and playing great footy for the (shudder) tigers. at least its the same club buckley played at up here. very tall and a bit lanky at the moment but has great one-touch skills like most of the aboriginal boys. plays mainly in defence but i couldnt see a reason why we couldnt play him virtually anywhere on the park in the future. holds Nightcliff's defence together and rarely misses a target when he takes the kick-ins from full back. long and penetrating kick and a big leap on him although i think he's been a little cautious in the last few weeks, which is understandable after having OP. locals here were VERY surprised he didnt go in the main draft when only 2 NT boys were chosen. Roe led a party including Balmy and Bucks(according to the local paper anyway) on a trip to see the locals when collingwood were up here ealier in the year on their goodwill trip and the pies were apparently very impressed by his character, as was Judkins at the interview during draft camp. i know its a generalisation but i think his biggest problem, as with many aboriginals from up here heading to the afl, will be the big move south away from family. if he gets past that, he'll do great.
