Disappointing start to 2024.
Too loose in defence and our kicking for goal killed us.
GWS are a formidable opponent. I don’t think we’ll get many tougher opponents than this one.
Bring on next week with the flag being unfurled and back at home with our supporters.

AFL will be happy!

Pass mark for Checkers, Dean, Sidey, Nick (though not as influential as usual) and Cameron.
Maybe argue Maynard as Green wasn’t a factor at all.
Not many other winners.
Other end of the scale, Cox horrid, Jamie is well down, Mitchel not a factor, Ash Johnson I’ve seen enough complete downhill skier and not anywhere near our best 23.

Lots of other passengers.
Oh well. Must admit I expected a 5 goal loss but this wasn’t it.
As I said in the game thread, we look so silly with the constant circle jerking over the of season. Just top shelf wankery type stuff.

Not a great start. I just hope this doesn’t turn into 1991.

Pretty comprehensive smashing.

Would suggest GWS are 10-20% more committed in 2024 and we're 10-20% less committed.

Bring de Goey back from Bali, send Lipinski back to Footscray, send Schultz back to Freo. Trade Ash Johnson to whoever wants him - as a project player he has continues to fail. Charlie Dean needs to spend some time in the VFL - like the rest of his career.
And John Noble shows once again why he should not have been omitted for the Grand Final.
Darcy Moore was made to look a lot better by having Howe and Murphy alongside him. Defence was disorganised, but then so was the forward line. At one stage in the last qtr, three Pies flew for the mark while the GWS players waited at their feet for the spill. Missing Taylor Adams.
Thank St Peter for the Daicos boys.

Nothing Short then Collingwood tonight

Only Steele/Nick/Maynard(Work on Greene) be a Postive.

Rest was Shit at Best

Yes it's the 1st Game of the Season so not writing our Season Off but Some Very Worrying Signs Tonight

Worst Game we played vs Dogs in 2022

All Kicking was Poor Tonight. Intensity was no where near it should be for Regular Season

Had no Plan B as we just Kept Bombing the Ball forward.

Hopefully just a Massive Wake Up Call for the Team and we come out Firing vs Swans Friday Night

Ash Johnson is not the answer. What a difference two big forwards make. We recruited smalls instead of going after a KPF.

I said prior to the match that it was way too early to be playing a game, and that’s exactly how it looked. The players looked like they were playing a practice match in early March, which is when they used to play practice matches.
Hopefully this was just a one off,but there were some bad signs out there ,like the backline which was way too loose, and the forward line which struggled to take a contested mark all night.

Too much Harlem globe trotter, Hollywood shit. Look away handballs and dinky kicks. Didn’t like the smiling and celebration crap when we were getting flogged. Fumbly, disinterested and disconnected. Hopefully we snap out of it and get back to our best next week.

No pass mark for Dean from me. I dunno who he was on but whoever it was played better than him.

Our last three games goal kicking:

Grand Final 12.18
Richmond 10.16
GWS 11.16

32.50 in our last 3 games
Not sure how this can be fixed but it’s a big big concern.

No Howe and Murphy was pivotal. Selecting Dean was not the right one. Should have been Frampton.

No genuine key forward has us cooked before the season has even started unfortunately.
I’m a fan of Schultz but goodness me that was a horrendous debut.

All in all a pathetic performance yet somehow we had 3 more scoring shots.
