Collingwood key defender Shane Wakelin has agreed to terms with Collingwood and will be secured by the Magpies until at least the end of 2004.

After initially holding out for a new three-year contract, the 28-year-old has settled on a deal for another two years.

His agreement, added to that of Heath Scotland this week, mean Collingwood is unlikely to select a player in next month's pre-season draft as it has a full list, with 39 players including the veteran-listed Mark Richardson.

Wakelin's manager Marvin Weinberg, who earlier this month said his client would not rejoin the Pies unless he was offered a longer contract, said: "We're comfortable with what we got".

Wakelin played all 25 games this year and finished equal fourth to Paul Licuria in the Magpies' best-and-fairest award in his second season since crossing from St Kilda.

Looks like Eddie was right again! Good stuff Woods.

If he's still playing well in 2 years time he gets another 2 - simple. I wouldn't be surprised if the brou-haha at carlton has begun to get other clubs players a little nervous.

yep he is the last....we now have a list of 39 so it is unlikely we will pick up anyone in the next draft....

Because we have a list of "only" 39, due to only 1 vet, I think that means we are able to promote a rookie onto the seniors list.
