... the gap created by the pulling down off the Ponny.
Went past the MCG the other day, and it looks strange without my beloved Ponny. In fact there is a bloody good gap. Made me feel hollow or something.
Can someone get some good pictures of how it looks now and post them, so others can see what I mean?

Oh my gosh no no no *cries all over the place*
That is the saddest thing to see.
Geez
The seagulls are going to invade the Southern now that the Ponny is gone and there is so much roof missing for them to perch on and eat out of the old pie wrappers.
Eshshhhh

It'll be interesting to see if this results in a distinct advantage kicking to the Punt Rd. end for a while.

It's just like 1991 when they ripped down the old Southern Stand where people were saying the same thing - Its sad, I am gonna cry etc etc. Best thing that happened to the G was the New Great Southern Stand.
The new renovations will make it even better and you will all wonder how you survived in the old stands!! The facilities and veiwing will be sooooo much better!!!
Just you wait and see!!

Yeah, and it won't cost any more either.
It'll definately be better for the corporates and so on, the ordinary people will probably get the top deck (if they even let us in to the People's Ground).
Pessimistic?, Just you wait and see!!

I reckon Anthony C has got it sussed.
This new-look M.C.G. is a luxury we don't need. There was nothing wrong with the old Ponnie. It was good basic spectator accomodation for the general admission fan. The view from the middle and top decks was awesome. And unlike the G.S.S., you weren't looking into the sun all day.
This new stand is going to cost squillions. And I'll wager my reputation as an astute observer of these things, that the average footy fan is going to be paying through the nose for this for a long time to come. More and more fans are going to drop off because of this.
Football has always been a whore. But now she's trying to pretend to be some sort of high class call-girl for the rich. Forget it, honey ... you're just a tramp like the rest of us.
The new M.C.G. is going to the world's most expensive toilet for pigeons.
GO HARD OR GO HOME

The advantage the has G is it's size....no doubt the new stands will have more corporate boxes and reserved seating, but the reality is...there will still be seats for the general public at stock std prices.....The AFL are greedy little pigs when it comes too admission fees, but given a backlash from supporters this year I believe the pricies will stay at a similiar point and perhaps even cheaper for families....
