just to prompt some discussion, who do you think are the most valuable players in all the other clubs? Who is the guy that their teams miss the most if they are tagged out of it or injured or who can get the team up for an improbable win? you can only name one per team.

my list:

adelaide: mcleod
brisbane: voss
carlton: kouta
collingwood: licuria
essendon: jason johnson
fremantle: bell
geelong: king
hawthorn: crawford
kangaroos: harvey
melbourne: white
port adelaide: primus
richmond: richardson
st.kilda: reiwholt
sydney: hall
west coast: cousins
western bulldogs: brown

(you were right murray, forgot all about big bad busted barry)

Hard at it. The Collingwood way.

Agree with most, Cam, but would have to say having Buckley tagged out of the game would be more telling than Lica and for the Dogs, Darcy.

yeah rocca is an interesting one, he and buckley were the other ones i considered. as far darcy - he has plenty of high possession games that the dogs don't win - when nathan brown does, he hurts you nearly every time. neitz/white you can swap them around if you like, i just think neitz doesnt get it if his onballers don't get it and they don't get it if white doesnt get it. hird too could go in there, jason johnson kept them in many many games last year. archer from north nearly could go in there too, unfortunately sock puppet milne from the saints could realistically fit as well.

Good call on all of them Cam,
I would probably put in Hall for Sydney although Creswell is very good for them in a tight spot.

fair call on most....cresswell I don't think is the man for the swans...I would say Paul williams would be more important for them...

Licca is very good - yes, but is he in Bucks' class yet - not a chance in hell!!!!!!

Nathan Buckley is one of, if not the best, player in the AFL and Licca well he sure is not there yet.

Re. His disposal is still shockin.

Pebbles could be our barometer in the future and he did have an excellent year but he still drifts in and out of games to much to be in Buckley's league.

Go the mighty Pies in 2003!!!!

bucks is our best player coxonator, no doubt and as you say, certainly in the elite of the entire comp. but over the past 2 years when buckley has been injured or down on form, others have been able to step up enough, not necessarily to have the blinding 40 touch games bucks can produce, but collectively enough to cover his loss. i dont think we have anyone who can do that when rocca goes missing. not yet anyway. pebbles is still a year or two off his best i think and will continue to improve on a good, solid and at times brilliant 2002 but he's our most vital cog(not best player)in my eyes given his impact on games and the lack of a current(albeit developing) group of guys to take up the slack when he's down on form. fraser, tarrant and davidson in particular will kick on over the next 3-5 years.

good points ram. im not saying lica is our best player, but i think he's become our most important. we have won tough games without input from lots of people, including bucks and ant, but rarely without lica being good. rocca is still a bit more of an x-factor - you never know when he's going to fire. lica was guaranteed money, although this may change next year when he is tagged more despite him having a tagging job himself. back to back copelands has got to speak for something in itself. licas disposal is at times shocking but he shuts down the opponents best player at the same time as racking up his own hardwon ball.

Hard at it. The Collingwood way.

Who do you put on a tag situation with our team next year?? If you tag Buckley that will allow Licca and Woe to run free out of the centre. With the return of Molloy next season you have to choose between tagging him or Rocca. What a dilemma for the other teams. I am looking forward to see how MM lines up the boys next season. We have DEPTH. Isn't that great to see.

If your not bleeding Black and White, you don't truly support Collingwood!!!!!

yep, good call cam. rocca IS still too much of an x-factor although i thought he began to grow out of that this year. im with you on licka being more important than bucks, although not necessarily better. notice no one else has bothered to attempt a list - you obviously did well.
