Didak may well win hands down but unfortunately you have to have 18 players on the field and 22 in the side.

If Nick Davis leaves someone of his standard must replace him in the 22 for us to be as competitive as this season and don't tell me Richie Cole is there yet coz he's not (re. Hawthorn game 4-5 costly turnovers) i'm not saying he wont be ever but to get Caracella right now makes sense.

He wouldn't get a hard tag in the midfield for us coz Bucks always gets the opposition's best tagger then you've got Licca tagging another good player with guys like Burnsey and OB also in there he won't even necessarily get a good player!!! In the forward line Tazza would get the best medium size defender with Pebbles and Josh getting the 2 best talls leaving Blake to have a medium sized 4th best defender or if Diak's down there ny your logic 5th best!!!!!

Blake 2 the Pies 4 2003!!!

Go the mighty Pies in 2003!!!!

Why the hell arent we after a ruckman. with spider going to hawthorn and french likely to go to the blueballs, we should be going all out for keating.

Hasnt anybody at collingwood sat down to watch the GF, and see how we got smashed out of the middle.

You gotta be realistic when ya think about these things JLC and take into consideration the fact this years draft is said to be shallow meaning that by the time pick 16 comes around your no guarantee of getting a quality player.

Soooooooo if he's such a gun why are they willing to give him up for a for a 1st round draft pick in a "shallow draft" ??
sounds like they don't think to much of him either.

We are gonna get dudded again on the Caracella deal.

I honestly think that we wont get him because Essendon dont want us to have him.

I thought we had Misiti last year, so there is no way I am gonna get my hopes up. If Heffernan heads out of Windy Hill, Caracella wont go with him.

We'll have to make our own stars.

Exactly focus on getting a ruckman!!!!! Clarke Keating and Everitt (now taken) were on the market and we are worrying about getting Essendon slops. A quality tap ruckman will improve us a team far greater than a midfielder. Port Adelaide have an extra ruckman so whny not at least go after one. We have a good bargaining chip in Nick Davis, so surely we could get a ruckman.

Here is a game by game breakdown of caracellas season

From those stats he got 15 or more possessions in 20 out of 24 games - seems good enough to me.

Number of possessions can mean jack sh!. You can get three possession if you mark it deep in the pocket after a point, kick it back to the full back, he kicks it back to you and then you kick it forward to no-one. I've said it before Essendon's game is based on using space and racking up uncontested possessions. Look at Anzac day. Caracella had 21 possessions that day, but what did he do with them, as with most of his mates they were just numbers. Look at his goalkicking - before the finals (where he kicked 3) he kicked 19 goals, 15 of those were against teams who did not finish in the 8! In the 10 games played against teams in the 8 he kicked 4 goals. 4 goals from 10 games against quality tagging opposition, hardly inspiring stuff. he also only averaged 17.6 possessions against the top 8 finishing teams (to be absolutely precise it was 11.5 kicks and 6.1 handballs & 4 marks) GET A RUCKMAN INSTEAD. Maybe we are one of the 'other four' clubs in the running for French now?

Hard at it. The Collingwood way.

French might be worth going after because he's still pretty young and has shown flashes of brilliance apparently he was good in SANFL GF 2.

Keating hasn't been able to get himself fit for 3 years and nothing will change if we pick him up. Don't get me wrong i thought he was excellent on GF day but i think that was his 5th or 6th game for the year not exactly the kind of numbers you'd be after in exchange for the prized 1st round pick.

I don't know why exactly Essenscum are shopping around all these players i'm sure it's gonna come back and bite Sheedy on the Arse one of these days but anyway Caracella's numbers are excellent and that was in a poor season by his standards, possession game or not he would be a good addition.

In regards to the point about top 8 teams vs. bottom 8 teams perhaps Sheedy asked him to play more as a midfielder or half back flanker (both roles he can do well - versatile) in those games against better sides limiting his opportunities to kick goals.

Go the mighty Pies in 2003!!!!

Ok heres a deal, a long shot, but one that might give us a first round pick for Nick Davis. James Begley wants to return to Adelaide for compassionate reasons due to Bali Bombing (Age 25/10/02). Saints also want to trade pick 8 as they already have 3 high picks (including no. 3). Saints want a ruckman now Everitt is gone. They trade Begley and pick 8 for Barnaby French and maybe a lower pick. Port ontrade that pick 8 to (NO we not gona deal, just like to steal, SYDNEY) for a player (not sure which coz Sydney's list is thin) and then we get that pick in exchange for Davis. Hmmm dunno how i dreamed this one up. _

Now Shane Woewodin is a player worthy giving up your first draft pick and a player for Thank goodness we are chasing a class player as opposed to Essendon slops!!

Woewodin would really strengthen up the midfield. I just hope they dont go trade Obree or a player of that nature.

However we always seem to chase the big name players but we very rarely get them. Maybe we can do a three way deal involving Nick Davis.

Woewodin and Sydney third round pick to Collingwood

Nick Davis to Sydney

Collingwood First round draft pick to Melb along with Sydney Second Round Pick.

Cam you've done your homework, that's for sure. But Caracella has class and finishing skills, and he's played in a premiership.

i wouldnt mind having caracella(after woewodin tho) but it needs to be remembered he manages a lot of free space as opposition clubs need to match up on hird, lucas, lloyd etc etc. we have a decent front half but not the calibre of those sorts of players(especially if nicole davis goes) to take attention away from caracella.

I`m not to sure about all these players you guys are talking about, but I do know one thing.
We need a specialist full forward. We havn`t had one in years.
It`s a bloody miracle we got as far as we did with out one.
Roccas no good below 30 metres and Leon`s to short.
Surely there is some kid in this country that has been kicking huge amounts of goals in some local league that has some hieght as well.
This is the person we should be looking for.
They should phone every local club in the country and get the stats on leading goal kickers and grab the best one.
The only thing different between Bris`s game and ours is they have a Lynch.
We both have small guys who can run there ass off, but they have a target.
Mathews was interviewed up here in Bris this week about the fact that Lynch was staying for next year, you could feel the relief he portrayed through the radio.
I really think that getting ex bombers is not good, Bris got 2 of our ex prem players in `91 and they did nothing except play reserves.
MM has got the right idea by getting our players super fit, you can see how unfit Ess players are, Bris ran them into the ground by half time.
Matthews makes those Lions players run very long distances every day, I`ve seen the bastards, he runs them for miles.
All we need is a full forward and the flag is ours.

Go the pies in 2003!

Maybe we had a FF, of a formidable rep. 500+ goals if I remember.
Traded for?
Oh. not traded at all. Put in draft as free agent. Benifit to Collingwood? ZERO. ZILCH!

oh well...such is life!
