Personally i dont think Carlton need DesHedland although his a good player, he will only be playing there for one year. What Carlton need is to rebuild there team over time.

I would say we should try and get the champ for the year he is going to be in Melbourne, my only concern would be is that Collingwood waits for the players that are in the draft to just about sign with another club then they go for the player!

Des Headland is another Nick Davis!

Like Davis, He wants to go home, but in Des's case its back to Perth.

How pisst will he be if he was picked up by a melbourne team?

He wants to play for Freo or WCE, so no point havin him play for a team he dont wanna be at...

do u get what i mean?

Who loves ya Presti?

From todays H/S;

Headland calls Brisbane's bluff
By DARREN CARTWRIGHT and GEOFF POULTER
16oct02

RENEGADE Lions midfielder Des Headland has called Brisbane's bluff and is prepared to do a stint at a Victorian-based club in an effort to go home to Western Australia.

Headland said yesterday he was not surprised by the Lions' tough stance in refusing to trade him, but he would not be persuaded into signing a new contract and would nominate for the pre-season draft.
Carlton, St Kilda and Richmond, clubs with early picks, all showed interest last night.

"The quality of players you normally get is nothing like Headland," said Richmond football director Greg Miller, unfazed by the prospect of holding him for only a year.

"The following year we would get someone (from Perth) who wants to come home."

Carlton football manager Colin Kinnear said there was "no doubt a player of his ability would be an asset".

St Kilda coach Grant Thomas said: "Our club is interested in great players, yes."

Headland, 21, who yesterday proudly displayed one-day-old son Mason, his second child with partner Chantelle Lavrick, said he had never wanted to play for the Lions.

Ever since his name was read out as the No. 1 draft pick in 1998, Headland has dreamed of returning to Perth.

"They've known from day one since I went there that I probably wouldn't settle in," Headland said in Perth.

"This is my best opportunity to go home and I understand if I am not traded I will have to enter the draft.

"If that's what it comes down to, then that's what I have to do. It may be that I have to go to Melbourne.

"It's never been a money issue. It's just to get home to be with family and friends.

"All of Chantelle's family are in Perth. She's also been in Brisbane for four years and we have always wanted to get home."

For those who liked that quote, I wish I could tell ya who said it, but I have no idea, I would love to find out though. As for those who would compare Headland to N. Davis, well Headland never said he wanted to go there, so there's no conflict for him, but Nicky D. has said a few times that he loves playing for Collingwood.

For those who are interested the quote is credited to
George Bernard Shaw. To state it correctly:

"Assassination is the extreme form of censorship"

A friend told me that "signature" quote Anthony C (long, boring story about how), but it's the other one I want to know the origin of, though I think it may be unknown.

But how about looking at this way guys, players that don't want to move, what rights do they have? Except for Glenn Archer who signed that clause in his contract that he wouldn't move with the Kangas if they moved to Sydney, players I suppose can only express a preference.
