Post subject: channel 9s licence renewal | |
|
Ive just written to my MP and asked that he get into the arguement re live telecasts.
In WA friday night is the bugbear.
3 1/2 hr delay, game already over before we see it.
I have asked if he will inquire re their licence renewal, that the point be put that channels that have the rights to live telecasts and choose to not show them live, forfeit the rights to a channel that will.
channel 9 perth have been taken to task for showing the rugby final sunday night at 1130pm,
half WA are kiwis and they went right off.
fox would have shown it live and would show friday night AFL live if given the chance.
fans in some other states are even worse off than us in WA.
so get pen to paper and write to your MP.
if enough noise is made we can change the rules that tv channels will not be able to treat us like shit anymore.

Good points Ed.
Why the hell isn't Fox allowed to show games direct when free to air choose not to ?? What's the problem ? It's infuriating !
The AFL wants a national competition doesn't it ?

Hey Assasin, are you talking about a dish that would allow you to view international sports for instance? I've been trying for ages to find something like that in my area but keep getting the run around. My hubby is desperate to get CBC (canada) because ESPN is pretty ordinary at showing Ice Hockey.. Sorry I got off topic guys. PM me Assasin if you have any idea if this is possible.

I think that you will find that all of the broadcasts are controlled by the AFL and Telstra. The TV stations are along for the ride????

I didn't understand it that way Peter, I though it was organised at the start of the year, in the contract, or at least they came to an understanding, ie like the one with teh rugby in the nothern states.

Brown 26,The AFL/Telstra signed a 5 year deal with Ch9 network and Ch 10 network for the AFL games.Ch 9 was to show the late night games, and Ch 10 was to show Bris in Bris,Sydney in Syd and match of the night on Saturday nights and Saturday afternoons.Ch 10 also had the EXCLUSIVE for the Finals.
Fox had the feeder off Ch 10,and they had the authorisation for delayed/direct depending on the AFL/Telstra todepending on what the match was. This is why we had to pay $49:95 to be able to listen to the feeder games on AFL.com.au.
This is also why the AFL had the monopoly on what we could and couldnt tune into on game day.
If you check out www.afl.com.au/media that will give you alot of the crap that effects our viewing.
