Post subject: The ghost of Darren Millane....Reply with quote

On a well known radio station this morning (NOVA) they told a story regarding the last training session before the grand final at Vic Park...

After the players had left, a little 3 year old girl asked her dad "who is that big man running around dad?" the father looked on the field and saw no-one..
He asked her who she meant...

she said 'the big man wearing no.42'.

RIP Pants.

yeh i heard that too!

the kid apparently said

dad who is that player running on the boundary line? and the dad says where? (this continues a few times) he/she says 'the one with the dark hair and big muscles' (hehe im thinking tazza) then the kid said 'that one, he just turned around. hes wearing #42' and the dad said 'there is no #42, that numbers retired' but the kid insisted he/she could see him!

i got shivers too! lol considering i dont believe in that crap its a pretty good story!

I remember the day I heard the news as if it were yesterday. I had got up and switched on the tv only to hear the news on Channel 9, I burst out crying my young son came to me and asked what was wrong and telling him only made it worse. We have several videos of games with him playing and I swear they are treasured.

That story makes you wonder doesnt it!

Some Millane spirit was needed on Grand Final day! His spirit is all the Magpies of today lack. Hardness with an absolutely never say die atittude. Imagine what could have been if he hadn't have sucumb to such a tragic demise, you only have to read "Pants" to know that he had made a pledge to make a amends for 1991's Premiership hangover...

Maybe the players of today should think of Darren and the pledge he made, You never know when your about to be chopped down and have all future chances at anything in life taken away!

RIP # 42
