Please note that the rumour that Mick Malthouse is ill is just that, a rumour.

Eddie McGuire and Neil Balme have both made public announcements that Mick Malthouse is well and is not intending to stand down as Senior Coach.

Please do not perpetuate this rumour by posting it on this, or any other, bulletin board.

That rumor should become obsolete in 5 minutes, as it included that a Press Conference would be held at 2:00 p.m. to make the announcement.

Eugene Arocca was interviewed on 3AW this morning and stated if the person who started the rumour could be located, action could be taken. This rumour is different to other rumours as it has no basis in fact and is intended to harm an individulal concerned. Clearly it is actionable.

11:55 this morning on ABC radio. Tim Cox, the announcer who interviewed me earlier this week and last week, announced the rumour to that small part of the world that hadn't already heard it. I've always liked Tim Cox's style on air, balanced, thinking and intelligent, but he let us down badly this morning.

I tried ringing him to get him to retract on air, but by the time I found the number and got through, he and his producer had gone (he finished at 12). I couldn't believe it - 11:55 on a Friday with no possibility of correcting it until Monday... and believe it or not his last words were, "Remember, you heard it here first." - he'd better hope that Eugene doesn't take that remark too literally.

I hope they find this bastard and prosecute him/her to the fullest letter of the law. it is such a dirty and low act.

this site would have to be one of the few who have not allowed any of this crap to be perpetuated, unlike some other sites and radio stations.

Channel 7 News in Perth is also a tabloid. It's worse than those current affair programs.
Their sports presenter obviously loves the rumour mill, as he broadcast it on live television last week!!!

I can't believe unsubstantiated rumours could actually go so far.

Its absolutely sickening to think that some people have nothing better to do than start horrible rumours like that. I'd love to find out who it was and get my hands on them. It is so hurtful and worrying to Mick's family and the supporters of this club and its really unfair.
