Every few years I post a bit of news on Nick (of Nick's Collingwood Page) for anyone who is interested in what he's up to. So for those of you who are old enough to remember who Nick is or who may just be interested, here's a bit of an update.
Nick will be 25 next month (shares his birthday with Gavin Brown), he was 10, nearly 11, when he began this site, and you may have noticed that he's not around here much any more - or to be more accurate... not at all. His passion for the Pies hasn't waned, but his passion for music is stronger than his need for the internet. It's interesting that although he grew away from the site, the site survived and developed its own identity without him - not many sites survive when the originator wanders off.
All of Nick's tertiary education revolved around music and its creation, production and management. He just kept going back until he ran out of parental money and parental enthusiasm - otherwise he'd probably still be there doing a doctorate or something. The motivation was obviously the music - not the learning of it, but the doing of it - if he'd left he would have had to get a job which would have seriously got in the way of the desired lifestyle. Anyway, he did eventually have to venture out into the real world, but the real world that has consisted mainly of doing odd-jobs between gigs to keep food on the table and parents settled.
Twenty five next month... that's hard to believe... doesn't seem that long.
The band's myspace page is at www.hindrum.com.au If you watch the slide show, Nick's the one with the beard and longish hair - although he has very short (no. 2 or 3) hair and no beard in some of the photos - just to confuse anyone trying to figure out which one he is.
He's talking about leaving the band and moving to Melbourne to try his luck in the big pond and to be a bit closer to the footy. That might be the story next time. |

I'm sure if he moves to Melbourne his career will be furthered.
Best of luck to him.
Hoping Ed will organise a complimentary membership for him. After all, this site is more of a link to CFC than the tel$tra site will ever be. |

geezus, doesn't time fly. My step son is 25 now, and has a 10 month old kid.
And he's moved back in with me where he hasn't lived since he was 10. My liver is taking an awful pounding.
Good luck with it Mike and keep the updates coming. I have his Xmas song saved and will make sure I play it this year. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I'd forgotten about the Christmas song Stui... although I remember it shocked his grandmother. |

good to hear about him Mike and good to hear from you too. It's an interesting life he's leading. Hope your well Mike
I was young when I stumbled upon this site, I joined the BB in 99 but before then I like a lot of ppl posted on the guest book for a long time. I remember Jack Hamilton's daughter replying to something I said so even back in the early days of the site there were significant people from Collingwood posting and replying
It was great back then that the internet was young and here was an opportunity for Collingwood people to get together and back then the official site was crap
Thank god for Mike and Nick's, it's been a long journey and the site has grown far beyond what I thought it ever would and I hope it continues _________________ Do I look like the tech? |

Great to hear how Nick is going. Thanks for the update Mike!
On moving to Melbourne, let me tell you a story of a young 17,18 year old who was in Mr J's cover Band. He decided that he needed to further his music career and moved to Melbourne. He was a DJ for a while, and joined a U2 cover band. The lad is now the drummer in The Living End, so it does pay to be exposed in the big lights!
Good Luck to Nick! _________________ Kaylene.

Wow as a new member I have wondered why's its named after a nick.
But this explains and to set up this website at the age of 10 is just too good.
He seems a talent. Happy bday to the man and I hope he gets to the big time with his music |

Update:
Although Hindrum (the band that Nick plays in) is now scattered, with Nick in Melbourne and Cam and Dan in Launceston, they are still writing and recording thanks to the internet.
They got together again while Nick was home over Christmas and made a video so I thought I'd post it here for any of you who might be interested:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-Z-X6brkHs
Nick is the one blowing through the tube at the beginning and is on the top right when the screen splits.

When have you ever had one ?????
On Nick it is amazing that the site has not only survived without it's creator but thrived. _________________ A Collingwood supporter since the egg was inseminated. |

Last time I saw anything of Nicks music I thought it was all to much "thrashing" around without any direction.
But the boys have matured and this has direction and melody without appearing to lose their roots.
Great effort. |
