Lead story in The Age now too (Thursday 5:30pm).

Williams was arrested and will appear in court at a later date.

1: Not found guilty, innocent 'till then. Do you guys want to shift to Siberia already? Farnarkle me!

2 Second, even if guilty (something not yet proven!) there may well be extenuating circumstances. Shut the F up 'till you know what the whole story is.

3: Even if guilty and also even if there are no relevant extenuating circumstances, he is young and it is his first offence. We forgive a first offence, and we give players a chance to make amends.

4: Even ignoring all of the above - and only a grossly fat and foolish Internet bully would do so - Williams has demonstrated over and again that he is willing and able to turn up to training, to put in the hard yards, and to perform at AFL level. He has, in a word, commitment. And that makes him 100 times more valuable than any talented kid who doesn't care enough to do the hard yards at training.

5: Summary: shut the F up!

We need a few more rough diamonds within our playing group anyway.

While I don't condone violence it's good to know we may have a small defender who'll make life hell for the small forwards/midfielders of the game and not take a step backwards in the heat of the moment.

Most ridiculous statement of 2012! Well done in just scraping in there.

I see the fundamentalist morality police, fresh from morning raids on remote Pakistani villages with the Taliban, are circling for young Magpie blood already--and it's not yet the new year! Nothing emboldens their sense of importance like the spectre of the public punishment and humiliation of a young bloke who already gets paid and laid more than they do.

Let's puff our sagging chests out and take the young blighters out of the competition pool early, I say! That way we can all feel like Real Men (TM) who have just lain low a thousand gladiators and corralled their women in swine pens!

There's nothing quite like visiting old bitterness on young men, I say! It almost pumps the blood all the way down to the old fella once again!

Six games off the rookie list in a debut season, no less, says if the allegations are true he will take his penalty like those before him and then win back his chance to be a gun.

The rest are the rantings of limpid hypocrites long past their virile best.

We don't know the facts. Maybe it wasn't him. Maybe it was reasonable self-defence. If he did the wrong thing and pleads guilty, then the club should suspend him for 3 H@W matches. That would show the difference between the culture of our club and that of Carlton.
This is not being moralistic. This is about the sort of culture we want our club to have.

If found guilty who knows what will happen, it's up to the law to sort that out not Collingwood. Maybe suspend him for a few weeks if the AFL puts pressure on the Club that's about it. The comparison's to Garlett are both amusing and stupid.
