Looking forward to seeing it. Daughter no. 2 recorded it while I was at work.

Just arrived in the mail from JB online:

Ninotchka (1939)

Directed by Ernst Lubitch & written in part by my one of my favourite writer / directors Billy Wilder. With Greta Garbo & Melvin Douglas. Greta Garbo in her first comedy:

A scene from the film:

I'm also now watching Armageddon for the well 100th time I think...Picked it up for 2 bucks at the recovery shop last Saturday.

I will be watching many horror films, thanks to Laura, so I've picked up some AFL dvds and comedies to also combat that.

Sugar man, won't you hurry
'Cos I'm tired of these scenes
For a blue coin won't you bring back
All those colors to my dreams

Silver magic ships you carry
Jumpers, coke, sweet Mary Jane
Sugar man met a false friend
On a lonely dusty road
Lost my heart when I found it
It had turned to dead black coal

Silver magic ships you carry
Jumpers, coke, sweet Mary Jane
Sugar man you're the answer
That makes my questions disappear
Sugar man 'cos I'm weary
Of those double games I hear
Sugar man, Sugar man, Sugar man, Sugar man,
Sugar man, Sugar man, Sugar man
Sugar man, won't you hurry
'Cos I'm tired of these scenes
For the blue coin won't you bring back
All those colors to my dreams

Silver magic ships you carry
Jumpers, coke, sweet Mary Jane
Sugar man met a false friend

Just watched Conspiracy Theory because it was on TV. Haven't seen the whole thing in one go before, but think I've seen it all in bits and pieces over the years. Anyway great film, classic crazy Mel. Give it a (re)watch.

It's an OK film I thought. Derivative from The Manchurian Candidate & a bit drawn out - could have been edited a bit tighter I thought but I liked Gibson in that role compared to some of the crap he came out with later.

I keep meaning to watch The Manchurian Candidate. Think I'll start with the original. Also Mel's The Patriot, Signs and We Were Soldiers are all quality. Get the Gringo is awesome too, but there was some pap like 'What Women Want' which was pretty awful. Passion of The Christ is stunning but not my cup of tea. I prefer my biblical epics to be like The 10 Commandments (1956), a movie I always enjoyed watching when I was a kid, even though I never believed in God.

Anyway, my point (I think there's one) is that Mel Gibson movies are consistently good, and his early stuff was great. Still haven't seen Apocalypto or Edge of Darkness though have had both recommended.

Apocalypto is amazing. Not something I'd normally choose, someone gave me a copy, with no cover, had no idea what to expect, plunked it in the machine whilst I was ironing. Didn't do much ironing, it's a memorizing film.

Gibson made a couple of films with 'A Message' for want of the right term, this is one of them. Really makes you think about a couple of issues, personal and planet wise without giving away the plot, well worth the watch.

Watched expendables 3 Saturday night, no where near as good as 2, lacked the humour. And Bruce! I'll buy it eventually but only to complete the set!
